Check Out How These Asian Celebs Nailed The “Haute Sport” Look

Make the most out of your activewear by mixing it with elevated pieces. These stylish celebs make a strong case for the “haute sport” look

November 22, 2022

We love throwing on our yoga leggings and heading out for a quick coffee run as much as you do, but there are some moments that call for a little bit more panache without going for a fully dressed-up look.

That’s why we love the “haute sport” look. It’s partly like atheleisure, but with a little bit more flair. Think interesting textures, daring colour or unexpected mix-and-match combinations that give you all the comfort of activewear with a cooler and more polished look.

To demonstrate this, here are how some of our fave celebs are wearing the look!

Try pops of colour

Rocking pieces from the Adidas x Gucci collaboration, Rebecca Lim makes a strong case for wearing this tennis-inspired look off-court. If tennis socks and sneakers are too on the nose for your liking, try swapping it out for pointy ballerina flats, and compliment the look with statement earrings.

Mix business with pleasure

Take direction from Jesseca Liu’s look with a suit that plays in athletic influences. In this case, sporty stripes frame her blazer and trousers, and Liu also plays on the sporty influence with printed sneakers.

Maximal impact

Got a sporty bodysuit that you just absolutely adore, and want to wear for a fancier dinner? Then like Carrie Wong, tuck it into a voluminous maxi-length skirt for a look that takes you from gym-ready to glam in seconds.

Tailoring wins points

What we love about Jeanette Aw’s Dior look is that she starts with a sporty sleeveless anorak, and throws it over a tailored shirt to instantly transform the mood of the look. try that with your own pieces, and pair with well-cut trousers to complete the directional look.

Monochrome magic
custom

If you’re going to head out in your sportswear, then try working a brightly-coloured monochrome outfit. Sure, it’s a look that takes a little bit of guts, but a strong colour can instantly pull your look together. Here, Yoyo’s syrup pink look feels youthful and edgy, and can be easily worn to the gym or to brunch.

Think textures

Like Chantalle Ang’s look here, the combination of different textures and patterns can reap plenty of stylish points. The key? Working with complementary colours or sticking to classic black and white. Her bike shorts and flame-printed sneakers could belong in a spin class or on the dancefloor as well.

A play on lengths
custom

Sportswear usually comes with shorter hemlines for practicality purposes, but if you can get your hands on longer lengths, they give plenty of mileage outside of your workout sessions. Tabitha Nauser’s Onitsuka Tiger ensemble could see her going to the gym, but it works just as well for when you need an on-the-go look.

Best of all, these items work just well on their own. The long sports coat can be paired with skinny jeans for a great look to pack on your Fall travels. And that skirt? Imagine it with an oversized white blouse tucked in – perfect.

Top up on accessories
custom

Accessories make or break a look, we often hear, and there’s no better example of that than in this look worn by He Ying Ying. Her sporty quilted shorts get upgraded with pearl accessories worn on her ears and in her hair. The laminated surface of her beanie lends a sleeker vibe to the look, and her micro bag keeps her looking youthful.
