What’s better than curling up after a long day of work to watch a movie at home? At the height of the pandemic, cinemas and other entertainment outlets were closed for months. Instead, many of us turned to watch movies with our loved ones in the comfort of our own bedroom.

While cinemas are open to the public again, nothing beats the comfort of your favourite snacks, blanket, and choice of throwback movie whilst in your own bed. Here are 6 quick tips to level up your next Netflix binge in your bedroom:

Control ambient lights

Ambient light is any light from sources outside of your projector or movie player, like light coming from windows, under the door, and artificial light from within the room.

Excessive lighting will ruin the quality of your image projection. Dim the lights, invest in some curtains or blinds if you have a large window in the bedroom. If you do have mood lights or task lights in the room, make sure these lights are placed behind where you’ll be seated in your bedroom theatre, so as to maintain the highest possible image quality for that 4K movie experience.

Remove reflective objects

In a bedroom theatre, reflective surfaces should be eliminated as much as possible because they can reflect light back and compromise the viewing experience. This means you’ll want to consider the reflective qualities of various elements in your living space, such as shiny doorknobs, light fixtures and even the finish of your paint.

If you have large reflective objects in your bedroom like mirrors, consider draping a cloth over it before hitting play on your next movie.
