Before enthralling audiences as the beautiful and talented secretary Kim Mi-so in the 2018 hit show, What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Park Min Young played roles in various dramas before scoring a breakthrough in coming-of-age drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010). She went on to star in City Hunter (2011) alongside heartthrob Lee Min-ho and Healer (2015) with Ji Chang Wook.
But Min Young really cemented her popularity status with Secretary Kim, which incidentally, was her first foray into romantic comedy. The show even led her to hold her first fan meeting since her debut 12 years ago. Fans of Secretary Kim will be glad to hear that she will be starring in another romcom in 2019 called Her Private Life, where she plays a curator beside actor Kim Jae Wook.
In celebration of her 33rd birthday on March 4, let’s take a look at some of Min Young’s best looks and cop some style tips from this fashionable actress. Happy birthday!

We all have a white t-shirt and jeans combo in our wardrobe, simply because it’s a quick, no-fuss ensemble that is guaranteed to look good for the weekends. But if you’re stuck in a rut and wondering how else you can jazz up this staple outfit, take a note from Min Young, who relies on outerwear like this printed blazer to add colour and style points to a classic look. This pairing can also be worn for casual Fridays at work too.

Juxtaposing vertical and horizontal abstract prints, this soft, flowy straight cut blazer from Mango can be worn to work with a pencil skirt or worn to the beach with a swimsuit underneath.
So you need to do overtime and have no time to change in time for after-hours parties? This edgy tinsel textured blazer from Topshop has got you covered. Oh and we suggest block heels to complete the look — it’s more comfortable than stilettos, while still adding height.
Separates are staples, as they allow you to match in different permutations to create an infinite number of looks. But rather than sticking to the ordinary blouse or top (although there’s nothing wrong with those), pick ones that have an unusual silhouette or design because they can help create a more interesting and dynamic result. Take this look from our birthday star as an example: Rather than opting for a simple, cream blouse, she chose one that featured a sweetheart neckline with slightly puffed sleeves to match her light denim jeans.
In a flattering powder pink, this feminine off-shoulder crop top from Pomelo Fashion is great for summer parties. Match with relaxed white linen pants and a pair of sunnies. Get the mojitos ready.
This black knitted number comes with ruffles and a square neckline, a nice change from the usual round- or v-neck cropped tops. You can match it with a pair of sharp white trousers and a pair of silver pumps for a modern, feminine style.
Chanel’s creative director Karl Lagerfeld once said, “One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a little black dress,” and we couldn’t agree more. Min Young looks ethereal in this monochrome high-collared and thigh slit number. Notice how she added colour through a choice jacket and handbag while keeping her footwear in tone with the outfit — this is a simple way to add minute touches of vibrancy to your ensemble without straying too far.
With puffed sleeves and a waist detail, this lightweight LBD is made with polyester, which doesn’t weigh you down while making it breathable for the local climate. Pair this subtly feminine piece with a pair of black booties and juxtapose with layered dainty necklaces for a unique combination.
Slip dresses are not just for the bedroom. In fact, they are the ultimate comfy chic option and can be complemented with other pieces in your wardrobe. Go rocker chick with a leather jacket and boots or go full-on slouchy with a kimono and wedge heels.
Not only can hats help to shield us from harmful UV rays of the sun (which is much needed in the ever-sunny Singapore), it is also a great, and often overlooked, way to accessorise. And the South Korean actress is often spotted in some kind of headgear — from sun hats and berets to headbands and beanies — so pick your poison.

Nothing screams summer beach party as much as a straw sun hat matched with a white summer dress. We love the black fringe detail of this piece. Just remember your sunnies and sun block.
Channel the best of French girl aesthetic with this nude beret from Topshop. Its neutral colour is not intimidating and can easily be incorporated to any look. We say wear this with a striped tee and black jeans, and round up the look with red heels.
We love pantsuits, simply because of their amazing transformative ability to make you look like a #girlboss. But if you really want to take it up a notch and make your presence felt at work and on weekends, pick a statement pantsuit combo. To make the look more sexy, ditch the shirt and wear a bralette or bandeau top (like Min Young) under the sharp suit.

This fiery-red number will definitely turn heads for all the right reasons with its bright, striking tone. But if it’s too hot, tone down the heat by folding up the sleeves and matching with black strappy heels and your favourite black clutch.
If bright red is too bold for you (or your office), you can still amp up your look with a printed pantsuit combo. Featuring a black-white houndstooth print, this sophisticated checked number from Topshop features a detachable waist belt that can be used to cinch your waist and show off your curves.
