We love the hidden vanity table in the living room – ideas like these are perfect when space is an issue. Foldable furniture also help with organisation. The homeowner also kept the theme pretty much simple to avoid overcrowding the small space.

With an apartment so big on style, you even forget that it is tiny to begin with! This apartment may feel dark and masculine but the dark colours don’t make the space feel smaller because of its cool finishing, clever use of lights and cage-like dividers that don’t further enclose areas.

11. Bed against the wall

For the bedroom, push the bed to the corner and against the wall to maximise floor space. This is great as you won’t have to do a walk around the bed to get to the other side of the room to retrieve your items. Also the larger floor space will make your room seem larger than it really is.

12. Remove the headboard

To extend the vertical space in the bedroom, remove the bulky headboard to create more wall space. If you really need one, add a thin headboard in a neutral palette or the same colour with your bedroom wall to create the same vertical illusion.

13. Use mounted lights

A standing lamp may look beautiful on its own, but it will take up substantial space especially in a small apartment. Embrace mounted lights for both practical form and function.
