Terence says that this trend “combines the Japanese style of creating balance, with the pleasing aesthetics of Scandinavian design to create a classic home that is beautifully tranquil, extremely liveable and can withstand the test of time”.
To achieve this style, combine light natural woody, white and concrete grey neutrals for a clean and enduring look.
“The natural woody accents bring a beautiful contrast to the clean Scandi look, while creating a sense of serenity,” he says. “It also makes sure that your home won’t look dated five or ten years down the road. “
“The beauty of this trend is that it is very possible to imbue your own personality into it,” Terence says. “Add a contrasting throw cushion, a carpet with an interesting motif or a unique hanging lamp and it instantly transforms the basic space into one that is highly personal, and even eclectic, so it’s not as cookie-cutter as people think it is.”
Your home should ultimately be your refuge, so don’t decorate to impress. Terence says that as we become busier with work, family obligations and social activities outside of the home, “it becomes all the more important that your living space is where you can truly be at peace”.
