January 31, 2019

10 Items You Should Really Toss Out Of The House Before Tossing Yu Sheng
1. Crinkled wrapping paper and wrinkled ribbons

The wrapping paper that you wanted to reuse but was accidentally crushed when you were clearing out the store room? Throw it out, or better yet toss it with the pile of old newspapers to sell to the Karang Guni man.

2. Contact lens cases

If you don’t already throw out and change your contact lens case at least every three months, it’s time to do so. Hoarding spare contact lens cases is redundant (you’ll get another case with your contact lens solution soon), either use them as tiny containers for your beauty creams on flights or toss them out.

3. Hair ties that can no longer tie

The elastic is stretched, the threads are feathering at the ends. Steel your heart and toss out your favourite hair tie or scrunchie. We know it has been with you through your pregnancy, but it is an item that is no longer of use – so into the bin it should belong.

4. Rusty bobby pins

There are two groups of bobby pin users; one group which loses bobby pins faster than they can finish asking the question,”Where are the bobby pins?” and the other group made out of individuals who cherish their bobby pins almost as much as their wedding rings. If you belong to the latter group, it’s high time to throw out those rusty bobby pins.

5. Old electronic devices and chargers

Along with upgrades to our electronic gadgets through the years, older devices and their charges should be thrown out. If you don’t use it as an expensive paper weight, it is high time you toss it in into the trash.

6. Soy sauce packets

Those cute little soy sauce packets aren’t so cute when you have ten sachets lying around for months and an unopened bottle of soy sauce in the kitchen. With these packets, it is easy to overlook their expiration dates. Throw them in the trash or better yet, decline the extra packet when you take away sushi.

7. Stretched-out bras

They are comfy and they have literally supported you through the good, the bad and the ugly. But on closer inspection, the elastic band is overstretched and the support is no longer there? Take a deep breath and bin them. With life and undergarments, you deserve the best support.

8. Scratched nonstick pans

When the nonstick pans have scratches and they no longer function as well as they used too, into the bin it should go! The nonstick coating can potentially flake and release unhealthy compounds, beyond the naked eye, into the food especially when used with high heat.

9. Manuals

Hidden beneath the TV console or in the dark recesses of a storage area in your living room lies the manuals of electronic devices that haven’t been used after day one of setting up the gadget. It’s time to retrieve these items and make the Karang Guni man’s day.

10. Random keychains

These keychains may have been souvenirs given by a colleague from her exotic travels, or from a few charity donations that you have made. Untouched for months and even years, it is time to throw them away or, if it is a cute cartoon keychain, give it away to your friendly neighbour’s children.
