With the weather fluctuating between the rain and intense periods of hot weather right now, humidity is sometimes going to get the better of you.
And while we Singaporeans certainly know how to dress for the weather (what with our love for flip flops and denim cut-offs), there’s always a fine line that you shouldn’t cross when you’re getting dressed for work.

Look Like A Celeb At The Office With An Updated White Shirt
When the weather gets too darn humid outside and all you want to do is lounge in shorts, remember that it’s okay to do so as long as you’re not headed into the office. Otherwise, we recommend switching your shorts for knee-length cotton skirt instead to stay cool and look presentable.
They are trending at the moment, but that doesn’t give this one a hall pass.
Leggings, no matter how opaque or dark they are, will never look appropriate for the office when you wear it as pants. Rather, it looks like you’re about to head to yoga class, or you forgot to wear something over it.
We’re all for body positivity, but there is such a thing as being too see-through.
If you want to wear a sheer top but you’re not sure if you’re crossing the line, keep a jacket on hand just in case your superior gives you a raised eyebrow.
Crop tops have never and are never appropriate for the office. Just because it’s sweltering outside, doesn’t mean that a midriff-baring look is acceptable.
That being said, if you just dropped a hefty sum of money on a new crop top or you just want to flaunt your newly-sculpted abs, perhaps try to keep your skirt or pants high-waisted.
Perhaps the easiest rule to flout is that you’re wearing super distressed jeans to the office. While some offices practice a lax rule on this, most do not. And unless you get a tap on your shoulder from your office manager, you’d be none the wiser.
Whether it’s a ripped up hem or big patches of stringy distress marks, the golden rule is that if you’d wear it to a rock concert (or any concert, for that matter), then it probably doesn’t belong in the office.
Remember in The Devil Wears Prada, Anne Hathaway’s character refers to her colleagues as “The Clackers” in reference to the sound that their stilettos make on the marble floor? Don’t be a clacker.
Leave your noisy shoes at home and go for something a little more polished and less distracting please!
Slogan and graphic tees are huge trends right now, but being on trend doesn’t mean that you should be wearing it to the office. Again, this rule might not apply to a laxed office attire policy; but for the rest of us, it’s best to save it for the weekend.
Plain tees are about as far as we’d suggest you go.
