We know red is a bright colour and for most of us, we only ever wear it when it’s Chinese New Year. But what if you don’t want to rock up to your reunion dinner looking redder than an ang ku kueh? Consider using a red bag to add that pop of huat colour instead.

Not convinced? We recently spoke to Italian designer Fabio Panzeri, the Creative Director of Braun Buffel, and he armed us with a couple of style tips to amp up your lewk over the festivities:
- Don’t be afraid of colour. I made a lot of designs in red for Braun Buffel’s latest collection, not because we were aiming to launch something for Lunar New Year, but because red is a timeless shade that you can use for any kind of outfit from a white shirt and jeans to a classic black suit set.
- When choosing a bag keep your personality in mind. Don’t buy something because your friends say its nice. Listening to opinions is fine, but in the end you have to find something that you’re comfortable with because you’ll be using it.
- Don’t follow trends. If you’re attracted to a certain bag because it’s the trendy style of the moment, know that you may not be completely at peace with the design a year from now.
Keeping those pointers in mind, the following bags will make for stylish arm candy to carry around this CNY. And when the yu sheng has finished and you’ve survived another year of CNY gatherings, you can continue to carry these bags to work, to party or on the weekend:
