We all know yoga can strengthen your body and calm your mind, but did you know its benefits can also stretch to the bedroom and beyond? Here are four ways that regular yoga practice can enhance your life.

Boosts your immune system

Stress has a negative effect on your immune system and makes you more susceptible to illnesses. Certain poses in yoga stimulate your lymphatic system, which helps to get rid of toxins and move immune cells through your body. Furthermore, yoga stimulates all your body’s main systems – from your circulation to your digestion – and it’s no wonder studies have linked it with improved immunity.

Calms you down

One of the great things that yoga does is it helps to settle your nervous system and reduce anxiety. Yoga has double-duty benefits-naturally stimulating the relaxed part of your nervous system and stopping your body from producing too much cortisol.

Improves your love-life

A study by the International Society for Sexual Medicine has found that just two hours of yoga a week is enough to improve your sex life. Some experts say it’s because yoga movements increase blood flow to your sexual organs, as well as engaging and strengthening your pelvic floor muscles.

Fights food cravings

A study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association found that a steady yoga practice is linked with mindful eating. During yoga you’re encouraged to connect with your breath as you move. This helps to strengthen the connection between your mind and body. That connection, and the fact that yoga helps you to feel more present in each moment will help you to keep food cravings under control.
