When it comes to losing weight, just like everything in life, we need a little bit of inspiration to achieve our goals. Luckily, Elle Macpherson’s trainer James Duigan has come on board to shares his top tips, including his ‘Lose 5 kg in 2 weeks’ diet plan.
“Weight loss in itself is really easy,” he says. “Biologically it is – unless there’s a really hard-core hormonal or parasite type of thing going on, the mechanics and biology of weight loss is really simple.
“It’s the psychology of it that’s the issue. And also all of the mixed messages – gluten-free, low-fat.”
“Like if you’re going to have a brownie, have a brownie. Not a beetroot and brussels sprout brownie. Just go for it, do it,” the 40-year-old father of two says. “I love food. It should be celebrated. The energy you put into your food is almost as important as what you’re eating.”

James genuinely wants to improve people’s live by helping them feel good about themselves and it all starts with his simple tips here:
Eat lots of green vegetables or a fibre supplement. Fibre helps reduce “bat wings” and “bingo arms” by eliminating toxins.
Limit alcohol to four standard drinks a week. A 95 calorie glass of wine replaces one snack.

Your body converts wheat to sugar faster than any other grain. So try and avoid bread and pasta, if you can.
One coffee per day is allowed. After that, drink green tea.

Studies show that low-fat yoghurts, for instance, are loaded with sugar and sodium to make up for the blandness of having no fat. So, eat real butter, yoghurt and milk and cheese. Keep the doses small, though.

Add turmeric to your food; this fragrant spice is a known anti-inflammatory that directly targets inflammation in the body’s fat cells.

Warm water works better in the long run; it aids weight loss by stopping you from unnecessarily snacking as it leaves you feeling fuller for longer.

Eat off smaller plates. Swapping your 12-inch plate for a 10-inch one can save you a huge 500 calories.

Do not eat after 9 pm. Just have dinner and limit any intake to just liquids after 9 pm – this helps your body digest all foods properly throughout the night.
