Located in Telok Ayer, Uppercut is a non-combat boxing gym that opened earlier this month. The boutique gym offers three types of classes: Undercard, Overthrow and Beatdown.
Undercard classes are perfect for boxing newbies, as it focuses more on developing footwork, technique and basic boxing punches. Newcomers to the sport will also get a 15-minute introductory session prior to the class.
Overthrow classes on the other hand, places more emphasis on strength and stamina-building exercises. Some boxing experience is required to partake in this class. Both classes are 50 minutes each and involve some level of high intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts.
Beatdown classes also require some boxing experience, but this 40-minute ringside class is a more music-driven workout.
