The British actress is of Jamaican descent, but was born in Hammersmith, London.
Before Lashana started acting, she wanted to be a singer. She even writes her own songs and describes her music as “soul”, with “a fusion of soul, jazz and experimental”. In fact, she only got into acting initially to support her singing career. In school, a teacher suggested that she take up acting to give her singing more depth. However, it seems the star fell in love with acting and decided to pursue it.

Lashana made her film debut in the 2012 British film, Fast Girls, where she played an Olympic runner and underwent a gruelling training programme to prepare herself for the role. She trained with Olympians like Jeanette Kwakye and Shani Anderson for six days a week!
In 2016, she went on to star in Shonda Rhimes’s Still Star-Crossed, a period drama series about what happened after the death of Romeo and Juliet, where she played a cousin of Juliet.

If you thought Lashana looked familiar, that’s because she was in one of 2019’s biggest Marvel movies alongside Brie Larson – Captain Marvel. It was her breakout role, where she played the part of Maria Rambeau, a fighter pilot and Captain Marvel’s best friend who lives on Earth with her daughter.
In 2015, Lashana was a regular on the BBC comedy show, Crims. The short-lived series follows two men, Jason and Luke, who had been sent to a young offender’s institution after they were involved in a bank robbery. She played the role of Gemma, Jason’s sister and Luke’s girlfriend.

Just because Lashana will be taking over the 007 secret agent number does not mean that she will be replacing Daniel Craig as the new James Bond.
Rather, rumours suggest that Daniel Craig will be retiring from the service in the next Bond movie. Upon his retirement, his number will be reassigned to Lashana’s character.
Daniel Craig, however, will apparently be asked to come back to help with a difficult case in the film. So don’t worry. You will still see him around.
If you look through her Instagram, you will see that Lashana is a huge fan of taking pictures of herself on set. So you can look forward to getting an inside look into the magic of the famous James Bond movies through her.
