No matter how much we put them on a pedestal, celebrities are just like us and sometimes, they fall out with their friends. Here are the Korean celebs that we know have fallen out with each other or are rumoured to dislike each other:
According to blog articles and fan forums, Girls’ Generation’s leader, Taeyeon and former member, Jessica were butting heads before the latter subsequently left the group.
While some speculate that Jessica left the pop group to pursue independent projects, many think that Taeyeon is one of the reasons why the decision to leave was so easy.
Neither of them have ever come forward to address the situation but their lack of clarification keeps fans on their toes!
If there’s one thing you ought to know about Korean celebrities, they rarely like to acknowledge any sort of feud going on between them.
According to several reports, K-pop band 2NE1’s group leader, CL was said to be upset about former member Minzy’s departure from the group when her contract with YG Entertainment ended.
Prior to this, Minzy was said to have started on various independent projects (including opening her own dance school), which caused the rest of the members in her band to feel a little insecure about her level of commitment to the group.
Despite this, Minzy recently opened up about how 2NE1 is still very much a part of her identity and that the girls (she didn’t name names) are still supportive of her.
Some of you Korean pop fans would know this but who could forget the dispute between Jay Park and his former band, 2PM?
Jay Park was the leader of Korean pop group 2PM before certain comments he made about South Koreans on his MySpace page led to him being kicked out of the group.
Jay’s comments caused such unhappiness in the South Korea, it forced his management, JYP to kick him out of the group.
Despite the controversy, Jay’s managed to come out of the other side a much better person. Since he left 2PM, Jay debuted as a solo artist and is now a judge on Asia’s Got Talent.
Kris was the leader of Korean boy band EXO’s Mandarin language subgroup, EXO-M.
Before leaving though, Kris was said to have sued EXO’s management company SM Entertainment, sowing discord between him and the other members of the group.
Some of the members in the group have also unfollowed Kris on social media and dissed him publicly.
DBSK started out as a five-member boy band before three of their members, Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu left the group to form a band of their own, JYJ.
The trio’s departure led to legal turmoil and the two groups have since avoided each other then.
DBSK later re-branded itself and went by the name of TVXQ. The two bands are no longer actively making music.
Hangeng was a former member of the boy group Super Junior but sued the group’s management company, SM Entertainment for its supposedly unfair contract.
Despite this though, Hangeng is still friends with some of the members of his former group.
Hwayoung was said to have been bullied repeatedly by several members of Korean girl group T-Ara.
According to K-pop website Soompi, there was a heated exchange between Hwayoung and T-Ara’s youngest member, Areum. Read the exchange here.
