Make your own doughnut ice-cream sandwiches that have been rolled in hundreds and thousands (colourful sprinkles) to give a slight crunch during each bite.

Ingredients

  • 395 g can sweetened condensed milk
  • ⅓ cup cocoa
  • 600 ml thickened cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup grated milk chocolate
  • 12 small cinnamon doughnuts
  • Hundreds and thousands (Nonpareils Colour Balls), to serve
01.

In a large bowl, combine condensed milk and cocoa.

02.

In a bowl, using an electric mixer, beat cream and vanilla together until soft peaks form. Fold cream through milk mixture, then swirl through chocolate. Transfer to a 2 L freezer container. Freeze 6 hours to firm.

03.

Halve doughnuts horizontally. Place a scoop of ice-cream on each half and top with other half.

04.

Place hundreds and thousands in a bowl. Quickly roll doughnut in sprinkles. Serve straight away.

Top Tip: Have all ingredients ready before you begin to assemble to prevent too much melting. Refreeze for a few minutes if too soft to serve.
