A symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigour, Chinese New Year isn’t quite complete without its traditional yu sheng salad. While it stays as a toss of raw fish, veggies and seasoning, we switched things up with our own selection of fruits and root vegetables, in addition to addictive salted egg crackers! Check out how to recreate and add your own twist to the dish:

  • 1 piece purple carrot
  • 1 piece carrot
  • 1 piece cucumber
  • ½ piece white daikon
  • 100 g strawberries
  • ¼ piece shredded pomelo
  • 100 g blueberries
  • 1 piece mango
  • 1 tsp red ginger
  • 20 g roasted peanuts
  • 4 tbsps sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp five-spice powder
  • 2 tbsps sesame oil
  • 2 tbsps plum sauce
  • 200 g smoked salmon
  • 20 g salted egg crackers
