No baked treat gets homelier than these apple cinnamon scrolls, which come with buttery pastry, raisins and apple and cinnamon filling. Served straight out of the oven, they will be sure to warm the hearts of loved ones, especially on a weekend morning.

Ingredients

  • 2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored, finely chopped
  • ⅓ cup raisins
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 3 sheets puff pastry
  • 30 g butter, melted
01.

Preheat oven to moderate, 180 C (160 C). Lightly grease and line an oven tray with baking paper.

02.

In a medium bowl, combine apple, raisins, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Sprinkle ⅓ mixture evenly over one pastry sheet. Roll up firmly to enclose filling and form a log. Repeat with remaining pastry and ingredients.

03.

Cut each log into 8 even slices and place side by side, cut side down, on tray. Cover with a damp tea towel and rest for 10 mins.

04.

Brush sides with melted butter and bake 20-25 mins, until puffed and golden brown.

TIP These can be prepared to end of step 2 and frozen. Simply slice and bake as required.
