Satisfy your sweet tooth by returning to dreamy childhood cravings such as this chocolate cupcake thickshake, which tastes just about as magical as it looks. It will also save you a trip out while helping you add to your home-created American diner experience.
- 1.2 litre (5 cups) chocolate ice-cream
- 4 large chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing (400g), chopped coarsely
- 1 cup (250 ml) milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1½ cup (375 ml) pouring cream
- 1½ tbsp icing sugar
- Hundreds and thousands, to serve
Scoop half the chocolate ice-cream into a blender. Add half each of the cupcakes, milk and extract; blend until smooth. Pour into three tall glasses. Repeat with remaining ice-cream, cupcakes, milk and extract to make six shakes.
Beat cream and icing sugar in a small bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Spoon into a piping bag; pipe onto thickshakes. Sprinkle with hundreds and thousands.
