A classic English family favourite, this spicy sausage tray bake makes for a hearty dinner that’s perfect for a lazy weekend.
- 2 large brown onions, sliced
- 12 Italian sausages
- 4 medium chat potatoes, cut into wedges
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsps hot English mustard
Preheat oven to 180 C.
Place the onion slices over the base of a large baking dish. Place the sausages over the onions, then the potatoes over the top.
In a jug, combine sauces, brown sugar and mustard; pour over sausage mixture in the dish.
Bake uncovered for about 30 mins, turning the sausages and potatoes, and basting them with the liquid in the dish.
The dish is ready when the sausages are cooked and the sauce is rich and thick.
Serve with salad and crusty bread, if desired.
