We have long been inculcated that drinking milk is good for our muscle and bone development thanks to its protein and calcium content. And because of this, perhaps many of us still drink milk religiously and feed them to our kids, in hopes that they too will grow up strong.
Beyond the humble, ordinary plain cow’s milk, however, there are a plethora of dairy products to consume in the marketplace where we can likewise reap the same benefits. Take low-fat and chocolate milk for example. The former is great for someone looking to save on calories while the latter can be used to coax their child to at least drink some milk, even if it is a sweetened, flavoured version.
Then there is yoghurt and cultured milk to add beneficial probiotics to our diet and guts as well as yummy, glorious cheese that can be eaten on its own or incorporated into dishes such as pasta and pizzas to add a hit of salty umami.
Finally, we have our dairy alternatives. The likes of soy and oat milk have seen a great boom in recent years as a healthful, plant-based alternative that is said to be better for our health and the environment. They are crucial for people who have sensitivity to lactose too.
Whatever form you decide on, here are best dairy products and alternatives chosen by you and our editors.
