These adorable meringue nests with cream and mini chocolate eggs make for fab Easter treats for the kids, or as impressive (but totally easy) desserts if you’re having an intimate gathering. Plus, you’ll only need four ingredients: Egg whites, caster sugar, whipped cream and mini chocolate eggs.

You don’t have to be too careful with them too — messy nests make for a rustic look. So let the kids have fun piping them right on the baking tray.

If you’re after a fuss-free approach, you can use instant whipped cream and top it with berries or mini chocolate eggs. Otherwise, we’ve also included a recipe for a delish coconut cream in the video.

Note: Meringues keep well in air-tight containers for up to two weeks, but have to be eaten within the hour once the cream filling is added as they’ll turn soggy otherwise.

This recipe makes about 20 small nests. Video by Trish Caddy.
