It’s International Burger Day! But we all know any day is a good day to chow down on a big juicy burger. We’ve got a recipe for one if you’d like to create your own — sans the bun top! Instead, this recipe uses strips of bacon atop a beef patty for a fun take on the good ol’ beef and bacon burger.

You can season with salt and pepper to taste, but high-quality bacon and beef are tasty on their own. Apart from honey, BBQ sauce and maple syrup are also perfect alternatives for glazing the bacon.

We’ve also thrown in a portobello mushroom in the mix, but you can substitute it with a small cauliflower, a fried or soft-boiled egg, or a block of cheese.
