7 Hydrating Face Mists Under $30 To Keep Your Cool This Sunny Week
Before you step out of your office and into the sun to get yourself some lunch, pop a face mist into your bag
Is the weather getting too hot (and humid) for you? Same here over at the Singapore Women's Weekly team, and we are starting to reach for lighter, cooler, and refreshing skincare products – such as a refrigerated Bioderma micellar water for cleansing, a cooling The Body Shop tea tree face scrub and cleanser, tinted moisturisers, water-like texture sunscreens, and face mists!
Face mists? Aren't they a waste of money? Not really – face mists have come a long way since the Eau Thermale ones you used to buy in your poly or uni years. In fact, most of the face mists that you see on the beauty shelves these days are packed with nutrients, skincare ingredients, and are beautifully scented – so much so that you can even use some of them as toners on lazy or hot days.
While some of these face mists can get really costly, here are 7 face mists under $30 that you can try out:
Here's a super wallet-friendly option for starters –the Heritage Store Rosewater Atomizer Mist Sprayer ($9.80) that's vegan, animal cruelty-free, alcohol-free, and eco-friendly. The most attractive feature will definitely be the sweet-smelling rose petals scent that will fully envelope you as you mist it around you face and neck. That's a given considering there are only two ingredients in this face mist – purified water, and rose extract.
So, you won't want to use this solely as a toner but layer it up with skincare or simply use it as a mid-day perk-me-up. Other than that, if you do have and collect crystals, the purified water in this face mist has been magnetised to bring "to raise the energy to a higher vibration". Sounds perfect for crystal cleansing as well, doesn't it?
This one, however, can be used as a toner given it's mineral and amino acid-rich ingredients list. Customers who have bought it before said in the review section that they've used it as a tonic (toner or lotion), or layered it up with a mask for an intense masking session. Praises also went to its spray nozzle which dispenses a cloud of fine mist that refreshes you instantly. There you go, the Morningstar Minerals Derma Boost Rejuvenating Spray Mist ($16.57).
The Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist ($19.70) is yet another vegan and cruelty-free formula that contains skincare ingredients in the likes of vitamin C, ferric acid, green tea, grape seed extract, milk thistle, and more. Its cute and graphic packaging aside, customers praised it for its floral scent, hydrating effects on the skin, and its generous skincare ingredients.
Derma E's Hydrating Mist ($13.45) is a simple, straightforward product. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, rose water (which gives it a sweet, floral, rose scent), coconut water, is vegan and cruelty-free. With such a generic list of ingredients, you can only imagine that it's going to be quite a multi-tasking product – you can either slot it into your skincare steps before you pile on the creams, or bring it along with you on the go to use it as a mid-day perk-me-up.
Now, there is an obvious complaint on this one – that it leaves a slight stickiness on your skin. So, if you are using it in the middle of the day, do leave it in your air-conditioned office and use it post-lunch instead. The dry air-conditioning should zap all that stickiness away.
Oh! Mario Badescu! Did you even know that Mario Badescu has a Facial Spray With Aloe, Sage And Orange Blossom for a nifty $12? In fact, there are four different versions of this facial spray but this sage and orange iteration has been praised for its refreshing fragrance. As with Mario Badescu products, this little facial mist contains skincare ingredients meant to hydrate your skin to give it a dewy, supple look.
Here's one for all the packaging lovers – Anastaia Beverly Hills has a Mini Dewy Setting Spray ($24) that comes in mango and pineapple scents. At $24 for 30ml, this is definitely on the pricey side but it touts numerous benefits – it preps your skin for makeup, sets your makeup, leaves a dewy glow, and fits snugly into your little evening handbag or clutch.
Finally, we have this well-loved Herbivore Botanicals Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist ($24) that contains Hyaluronic Acid, organic rose water (giving it a floral scent), coconut water, and hibiscus extract to hydrate and refresh the skin. It's been compared to Tata Harper's face spray for its hydrating effect, and classy packaging. I mean, look at the pretty shade of pastel pink in that petite glass bottle – who wouldn't love to have this on her office desk?
