The Brands Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness This October
The month of October is all about raising awareness for breast cancer. Here's how some of your favourite brands are doing it
By The Singapore Women's Weekly -
The month of October is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness and in the spirit of supporting the globally recognised pink ribbon symbol, you might have noticed a couple of hallmark brands receiving a makeover.
The signature pink ribbon was the idea of Austrian American businesswoman, socialite and philanthropist Evelyn Lauder who had advocated for breast cancer research and championed for early detection her whole life. She also launched The Estee Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign which has since funded more than 17 million hours of research and made groundbreaking advancements in its treatment.
The World Health Organization states that 90% of early-stage breast cancers are curable but can only be detected through consistent mammograms and doctor appointments. In Singapore, breast cancer affects approximately 1 in 11 women in their lifetime (to age 99), with 1,850 women diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
With that in mind, here are some of the ways to support this meaningful cause here this year.
This year, six beloved brands under the Estee Lauder Companies — Estee Lauder, La Mer, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Origins, Jo Malone London—are launching special-edition Pink Ribbon Products. Available throughout October, a portion of every sale will support ELC’s Breast Cancer Campaign partners in Singapore, including the Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) and other breast cancer-related initiatives.
The products include:
Estee Lauder: Pink Ribbon pin ($20), Bouquet of Strength Lipstick Collection ($70) and Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex ($197)
Origins: Peace of Mind Moisturizing Hand Cream ($38)
Jo Malone: Peony & Blush Suede Cologne ($250)
