I have been hypnotised by those head spa ASMR videos while scrolling through TikTok.

My scalp is begging for that deep clean, scrub-till-you-drop treatment, but here’s the kicker: all the heavenly head spas seem to be in China or Vietnam.

Of course, I’ve commented “TAKE MY MONEY!” on those TikTok head spa videos like everyone else. Thus, I made it my personal mission to find these relaxing sessions across the border — in Johor Bahru (JB), Malaysia, to be exact. Here are the best head spas in JB I found.

S_thetics Salon in JB Mount Austin offers a truly relaxing head spa experience, starting from just RM148 (S$44) for men and RM158 (S$46.97) for women.

Prices for the head spa vary based on your hair length and the type of treatment you choose. The classic scalp treatment starts at RM129 (S$41.66). Each session, lasting 90 minutes, includes a soothing head spa and a rejuvenating shoulder massage.

Or if you’re seeking a more targeted solution, this spa also provides treatments for problematic scalps, ageing scalps, and damaged hair starting from RM139 (S$44.89).

Their star treatment here is their express 30-minute head spa for just RM39 (S$12.60) — at their KSL and Mount Austin branches.

Here’s what goes down during the 30-minute sesh: 

• Meridian dredging (gua sha scraping)
• Shower hydrotherapy
• Hair mask
• Shampoo and blow-dry

If you’ve got more time to spare, consider their longer head spa options:

90-minute head spa - RM219 (S$70.73): Designed to ease stiff, tense shoulders and neck while deeply pampering your scalp. The treatment includes Meridian dredging, an eight‑claw tool massage, shower hydrotherapy, a nourishing hair mask, shampoo and blow‑dry, aromatherapy scalp shower, hot eye compress, shoulder and neck massage, scalp cleansing, scalp steaming and machine massage.
