In case you haven't noticed, dewy skin is always in fashion – not just in summer. It not only makes our skin look healthy and awake, but creates a luminous finish that's just so damn pretty.

And then there's the makeup trend all over Instagram that takes glowing complexions to the next level.

"Think a fresh-out-of-the-water, super-hydrated, almost-wet shine and luminous skin," says celebrity makeup artist and Olay ambassador Michael Brown.

"Just like a dolphin leaping out of ocean waters with that glass-like skin effect catching the light! A mix of great skin prep and radiant, dewy makeup products will get you there."

Brown stresses great skin prep is key for "dolphin skin" – you need that dewiness to shine through your makeup.

“I love to use a very radiant, glow-giving serum, such as the Olay Regenerist Luminous Tone Perfecting Treatment serum (out of stock)," says Brown. "Next use a super-hydrating, skin-smoothing moisturiser, then finish with a spritz of a hydrating and brightening face mist, such as the Olay Energizing Mist ($23.34)."

When it comes to makeup, liquid and cream textures are best for a dewy look. Brown advises staying away from powders, as they will dull down your glow.

"The mix of the highlighter applied to the high points of the face (where you get sunburnt first) and the radiant apple of the cheeks from the blush gives a crystal-clear shine, hence dolphin skin," he says.
