Here's What These 4 Korean Celebs Do For Pre-Bedtime Skincare
What do K-celebs like Somi and Jackson Wang do before bedtime to keep their skin looking good for the camera? Let's find out
With their entire careers happening in front of cameras and millions of fans worldwide, South Korean celebs undoubtedly face a ton of scrutiny when it comes to their appearance. It shouldn’t be a surprise, then, that they spend a lot of time and effort to ensure that their skin remains in optimal condition 24/7 with the right use of skincare best suited for their skin type. From Somi to Jackson Wang, here are four top Korean stars who have revealed their beauty routine and shared with us which skincare products they can’t live without.
With a dry skin type, moisturising is the most important step for Somi, to protect her skin and combat that tight, stretchy feeling. She doesn’t have a skincare routine per se, but rather tries different products to see what works for her.
Somi starts by using the Etude Lip & Eye Makeup Remover on a cotton round, leaving it on the eyes for a few seconds to dissolve the eye makeup before swiping it all off. For the rest of her face, she uses Senka All Clear Oil to melt the makeup away without leaving her skin feeling dried out.
After cleansing, Somi starts layering with essences (which she swears by), starting by slapping on Shiseido’s Ultimune 3.0 Power Infusing Concentrate. The Freihaut Oxygen O2 Concentrate, which is recommended by her makeup artist and said to infuse oxygen, goes onto her skin next.
Somi finishes with a combination of moisturisers. The anti-ageing Jung Saem Mool Essential Mool Cream goes on first as it has a lighter, hydrating texture, before she seals it all in with the Freihaut Oxygen O2 Blue Pearls Cream.
Jackson Wang claims to have had “really bad skin” in the past, but we certainly can’t tell. As a result, the GOT7 singer has done extensive research on what works for his skin and what does not. His skincare routine is relatively simple, boiling down to just four products.
After cleansing, Wang gently taps on the L’Oréal Men Expert Hydra Power Toner before layering La Mer’s The Concentrate Serum on top. During the day, he ends the routine with L’Oréal Men Expert Hydra Power moisturiser and sunscreen. Before going to bed, however, he adds on the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Sleepair Intensive Mask to give his skin a little extra TLC.
Eric Nam considers his skincare routine “complicated” since he’s sensitive to water and weather changes. He also suffered from breakouts in the past due to wearing makeup so often. His love for skincare stemmed both from his family and living in beauty-obsessed South Korea.
Nam’s eight-step skincare routine begins with the travel-friendly Solved Skincare Coconut Oil Cleansing Pads to get rid of makeup. The pH-balanced and non-stripping Solved Skincare Coconut Water Cleansing Foam is next. He then tones his face with the Solved Skincare Coconut Water Hibiscus + Rosehip Toner and Fresh Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence.
Following all that, he uses the lightweight Clinique iD: Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly to add some hydration before applying L’Occitane’s Immortelle Overnight Reset Oil-in-Serum. His eyes then get some love with the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Gel-Creme. He credits the eye cream, which he saw his aunt use, with helping him look more awake since he doesn’t get much sleep. Last but certainly not least, Nam applies a thin coat of Embryolisse’s Lait-Crème Concentré.
Despite having “extremely dry skin,” Jay B credits having good genes which allow him to use skincare less frequently. His skincare routine starts with the Bring Green Tea Tree Trouble Cleansing Foam. He then shaves his face with the help of Schick Edge Shave Gel and uses both bottom-to-top and top-to-bottom strokes to get a clean finish. Over the shaved area then goes the Montblanc Legend After Shave Balm, which he loves the scent of.
Jay B continues with The Solution’s Moisturizing Face Mask, which he stores in the fridge to get it cold before use. He also takes the time to unwind with music as the sheet mask does its magic. He massages whatever product is left on the skin before applying a coat of Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask (in Mint Chocolate) so that his lips don’t dry out as he sleeps.
