Korean singer-songwriter and front man of popular Korean pop group SHINee passed away on Monday in a private hotel in Seoul, Korea. He was 27.

Police are treating his death as suicide. Before taking his own life, Jonghyun was said to have passed a suicide note to fellow singer-songwriter, Nine of the group Dear Cloud. The note revealed that Jonghyun was suffering heavily from depression and no one was able to help him.
