5 Plant Communities In Singapore For Every Plant Addict
Stores, markets, and communities where you’ll find likeminded plant lovers – and your next buy
Given the amount of time we've all been spending at home these last few years, it looks like the whole "jungalow" vibe is here to stay. Prettifying your house with plants is a very personal thing, so being able to find the right shops that share your vision is a special and valuable thing – better yet if you can take something home at the end of a visit.
Here we've put together some must-visit stores in Singapore that will get you where you want to be with your plant-vision for the home. Whether you're just getting started or you live in a veritable jungle, you'll want to check out these communities.
Located in Tiong Bahru, this shop is a haven for plant lovers. They also sell a variety of stylish planters, from woven baskets to rattan stands to hanging terrazzo domes. Their website gives you suggestions on which plants go with each planter, making the selection easier for you even if you don’t visit in person.
An urban farm in Seletar West Farmway, Very Into Plants (or VIP for short) is home to a variety of monstera and philodendron species, and welcome plant hobbyists from all walks of life. Catch them during weekends, or at one of the open houses organised in conjunction with Seletar’s Farmway Niners.
We love the lush exterior of their store, not to mention the enormous variety of handmade pots to accompany the plants you’ve picked out.
If you’re passing by Choa Chu Kang on a weekend, drop by The Jungle Market by Plants & Pints, which runs every weekend from 10am to 6pm. You’ll find a huge variety – whether it’s air plants turned into sculptures, artisanal moss terrariums, or vibrant caladiums, there’s something for every plant lover. They often run workshops on introductory plant care and arranging as well.
Think farmers’ market, but with household plants. The Planters Market is a roving popup featuring the work of several nurseries and plant hobbyists, with the latest one on 3 September in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Their events often feature local potters and food stalls as well, making them a great choice for a family event.
