1. Keppel Centre For Art Education

Occupying half of L1 City Hall Wing of the National Gallery, Keppel Centre For Art Education comprises imaginative and immersive spaces such as Illuminate!, which allows for exploration of abstract art, colours, shapes and shadow, and a Makers Studio where they can create their own 3D works. These dynamic exhibitions are simple enough for even little ones to appreciate and yet captivating enough for the imagination of older kids. Discover the unique environments and art styles in the play spaces, pick up some crayons and doodle your best in the art corridor.

Need a quick break after this fun activity? Head to Courtyard Cafe for a meal after exploring Keppel Centre. Located conveniently at the National Gallery, Courtyard Cafe serves up contemporary Straits Asian food and homely local food.

Parents planning a trip out of Changi Airport soon should make some time to check out the airport’s new wellness area. Located inside Terminal 2’s transit area, on level there, and is the ultimate pre-flight playground for the kiddos. Called the Fit&Fun Zone, it features five coloured zones: Green, Orange, Pink, Yellow, and Blue.

Begin at the Yellow Zone, where they can bounce around on trampoline pods as music plays. At the Orange Zone, kids can channel their inner champion at the Spar Pods. These soft, rope-suspended punching bags – and even the 3D petal structures on the walls — invite playful jabs in a fun “boxing” session.

Mums and dads aren’t left out, either. Fit in a quick workout at the Pink Zone, which has pull-down levers with adjustable weights from 2kg to 8kg.

Something for the whole fam is the Blue Zone, where you can test your agility in a rope maze shaped like a cave. And when you’re ready to relax, the Green Zone offers pendulum chairs with soothing views of Dreamscape, the perfect spot to recharge before your flight.

3. Mandai Boardwalk

Weekends just got a lot more exciting for families with the opening of the Mandai Boardwalk at Mandai Wildlife Reserve. This free 3.3km boardwalk offers an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, with scenic views of the Upper Seletar Reservoir and Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Perfect for a leisurely family hike, it’s open daily from 7am to 7pm, with entrances near River Wonders and Mandai Wildlife East.

Designed for visitors of all ages and abilities, the boardwalk features wheelchair-friendly paths and several rest stations inspired by local wildlife. Kids will love spotting creatures like birds, butterflies, and dragonflies while exploring themed stops such as the Tree Frog’s Hangout, Damselfly’s Wing, and Iora’s Nest, each celebrating native species and their habitats.

As you stroll, keep an eye out for glimpses of animals cared for within the Singapore Zoo and enjoy the peaceful connection between forest and water ecosystems. Thoughtfully built to minimise environmental impact, the elevated structure allows wildlife to move freely below, making it an educational and eco-conscious experience for young explorers.

To take the children’s eyes off the iPad, cart everyone off on an outing to connect with nature at Hay Dairies Goat Farm, and get up close and personal with goats. Small packs of hay to feed the goats are available for purchase at $5 each. Don’t miss the goat milking sessions between 9am and 10.30am daily, and you can even purchase bottles of goat milk on site.

On an educational level, your kids will get to learn how the farm operates and the challenges they face caring for goats in Singapore’s hot and humid weather.

Tucked away in a serene spot is Bistro by Gardenasia, which is a mere nine minutes' walk away from Dairies Goat Farm. Surrounded by lush greenery, this is the perfect place to treat yourself to a hearty meal of Western-local fusion food after a day of activity at the farm.

6. Revamped Chinese & Japanese Gardens at Jurong Lake Gardens

Here’s the good news: the revamped Chinese and Japanese Gardens have officially opened! It’s time to explore refreshed landscapes and new features that are perfect for a day out with the kids.

At the Chinese Garden, kids can wander through the Cascading Creek, a nature trail showcasing Southeast Asian flora and fauna. The Water Wall Court, with its 3m-high waterfalls, is sure to capture their imagination, while the Harvest Moon Terrace offers a peaceful spot to rest and take in the lake views. Don’t forget the iconic Twin Pagodas and Bonsai Garden, which have been lovingly preserved.

Over at the Japanese Garden, little ones can marvel at the vibrant Water Lily Garden or explore the Floral Ridge, a rustic trail lined with blooming flowers. For a hands-on experience, the Breathing Gallery introduces them to different plant and animal species in interactive terrariums and aquariums.

7. Singaporium: Punggol Stories

On L4 of the new Punggol Regional Library sits a permanent exhibition space featuring the history unique to Punggol. A collection of iconic memories presented through engaging infographics, these stories were contributed by members of the Punggol community for visitors to learn the rich history of Punggol.

Don’t miss the popular TinkerTots and Toy Library on L1, a learning and reading space for children aged six years and below, while Spark!Lab is a DIY tinkering space for seven to 12-year-olds. There’s also the World and Us Zone, featuring reading materials from around the world – including books donated by international libraries, Embassies and High Commissions – on themes such as geography, culture, and migration for children aged four to 12 years.

After visiting the library, head towards the newly opened hawker centre in One Punggol. With a wide selection of stores, satisfy the different cravings of your family all in one place! With many famous hawker stores such as O.BBa Jjajang Express, get ready to be spoiled for choices.

Another popular spot for families to enjoy the outdoors is at the East Coast Park where kids can take a break from MineCraft-ing to build sand castles for real.

The Marina Cove Children’s Playground offers a mini obstacle course for a bit of kiddy problem-solving, situated right next to the iconic East Coast Park McDonald’s outlet.

A 10-15 minute walk away, The Coastal Playgrove is a 16m-tall play tower with two tunnel slides and a kids play gym inside. To get to the top, kids can opt to climb through the nets in the centre or walk up the spiral walkway. There’s also a water play area and nature play garden to shake off the jitters after riding the tall slides. 

Looking for a place to chill while your kids run around in the sweltering heat? Set up a picnic mat at the event lawn at the Coastal Playgrove, sit back and relax while watching your kids enjoy themselves!

End the day with a classic family activity: cycle along the beach, enjoy the sea breeze, and watch the sunset.

10. Pip's Playbox

A minimalistic, cosy children’s art space in town, Pip’s Playbox is perfect for a relaxing playdate with your kids. Support local authors and illustrators at the Singapore Literature reading corner. There are also storytelling sessions and self-guided craft activities to engage your children. The outdoor play area offers a stunning view of the cityscape, perfect to unwind while the kids are happily occupied. 

Located in the same mall are endless food options to explore after a relaxing playdate with your kid! Family-friendly options such as Harry's, Makansutra Gluttons Bay and Noosh Halal Noodle Bar and Grill are available.

11. Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre

Opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in 2017, the Chinese Cultural Centre is an interactive museum that teaches you more about the local Chinese culture. With many interactive games and boards to engage with, it is suitable for both younger and older children and it can also be a fun experience for you as well! The SINGAPO人 (ren) exhibition will definitely help your child understand what it means to be a Singaporean Chinese and also grow an appreciation for their culture.

Wrap up your visit with a meal in Asia Square. Located just a seven-minute walk away, Asia Square includes food options ranging from food courts to restaurants.

12. Admiralty Park Playground

For free family activities in Singapore, outdoor playgrounds are aplenty. If your kids love swooshing down slides, Admiralty Park boasts the longest outdoor slide in Singapore that promises to thrill. All 26 slides at the playground are split into three areas: Junior play, Adventure Play, and Family Terracing Play.

The design of the playground is inspired by the vast nature surrounding it, with boardwalks and viewing platforms scattered throughout to get you close to nature. Don't forget to pack a hat and sunscreen if the weather is hot.
