It goes without saying that most of us are looking forward to Phase 3 on 28 Dec, especially because we're finally able to dine out in groups of eight. But a larger gathering could also encourage a tendency to over indulge over the festive season – which could lead to an increase in food waste.

According to the National Environment Agency (NEA), food waste makes up about 10 per cent of the total waste generated in Singapore. However, only 18 per cent of it is actually recycled and the rest is disposed through incineration. 

Don't get us wrong though – it's definitely ok to treat yourselves after an arduous year. Here's how you can do so without increasing your carbon footprint.
