The Michelin feasting begins with Loire Valley Oscietra Caviar, featuring scallop tartare and a velvety green tea mousse, crowned with Oscietra caviar. Follow on with Manjimup Marron, gently poached in court-bouillon, smoked with Long Jing leaves, and served with salsify barigoule and a marron-shell emulsion; Brittany Blue Lobster, confit in lobster butter and served with braised parsnip and a silver needle tea-infused consomme; and binchotan-barbecued Omi Beef with braised Australian leeks and black garlic puree, with Fujian Lapsang Souchong-infused jus and a touch of Szechuan spice.

Le Clos - Wine House & Restaurant is celebrating its first Valentine’s Day with French comfort food grilled in the Josper oven. Tucked in the New Bahru enclave, the mood here is intimate, with large potted plants surrounding cosy banquettes for a romantic and relaxed dining experience.

The 4-course Valentine’s Day Menu for Two ($188++ for two) can be paired with curated wines from its impressive selection of over 800 predominantly French labels (three-glass wine pairing available at an additional $88++ per person).

The romantic meal starts with the Wild Mushroom & Truffle Tarte Flambee, featuring a medley of mushrooms like black trumpets, yellow chanterelles and pied de moutons, crowned with aromatic truffle shavings. Order a supplementary glass of Krug (an additional $65) to perfectly complement the earthy notes. 

Likewise, the seared Hand-Dived Hokkaido Scallop, served on a bed of parsnip prepared three ways - parsnip foam, brunoise and crispy chips for texture (paired with Domaine Thibaud Boudignon’s Anjou Blanc, a Chenin Blanc from Loire Valley).

The sharing Josper-grilled mains offer a choice between the Herb-crusted Rack of Lamb served with lamb jus and black truffles (paired with Domaine Hauvette’s Baux de Provence “Cornaline” 2018), or the Turbot with slow-cooked leeks and gently roasted hazelnuts (best paired with Domaine Combier Crozes-Hermitage’s “Closdes Grives” 2021, a benchmark wine of the Northern Rhône Valley).
