Easy Mashed Potatoes

Learn to make mashed potatoes in the comfort of your home. For a smooth texture, make mashed potatoes using a food processor. If you have a thicker texture, you can also use a potato masher.

Feel free to adjust the amount of ingredients for salt, pepper, butter and milk according to your preference.

Mashed potatoes can also be used as a primary ingredient for dishes like shepherd's pie.

Ingredients

  • 3 peeled russet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • dollop of unsalted butter
  • salt
  • freshly ground pepper

Steps

01. Boil a pot of water. Add some salt to the boiling water. “The water should taste like sea water,” says chef Nicole.

02. Add peeled potatoes to the pot of boiling water, and cover the lid and cook potatoes for 15 mins.
02. After 15 mins, use a knife to pop through the potatoes. The potatoes are done if the knife goes right through easily.

03. Transfer the potatoes into the food processor. Add in a dollop of unsalted butter, a pinch of salt, freshly ground black pepper and milk. Then turn on the food processor. Check the consistency of the mashed potatoes every now and then. the texture shouldn’t be too gooey.

04. Scoop out the mashed potatoes into a bowl and serve.
