From the bustling shores of East Coast Park to the bright lights and placid waters of Marina Bay to the buzzing beaches of Sentosa, Singapore is blessed with plenty of waterside venues that make for a fun time in the sun.
If you plan to take the whole family out for a meal by the water, there are many dining options that serve scrumptious eats in a welcoming, kid-friendly environment – and with great views to boot. Read on for some of our favourite places, where you can bask in the sea breeze while tucking into fresh seafood, or graze on delicious American fare next to the bay.
Ready for a beach day? Grab the little ones and make your way to Sentosa to soak up the sunshine. Besides the opportunity for the entire family to partake in exciting water-sports activities – such as riding on a banana boat – there’s also a kids’ play area, baby-changing facilities and a nursing room. The extensive main menu features Hawaiian-inspired cuisine including kalua pork pizza and assorted poke bowls, and there’s a children’s menu with tasty options that include cod and chips, a beef burger and waffles with ice cream.

At this gorgeous outpost of PS.Cafe at East Coast Park, you can dine on top-notch café fare while enjoying seaside views. All children’s meals come with a bowl of ice cream with chocolate or strawberry sauce, while adults can feast on signature dishes including truffle shoestring fries, a superfood salad and grilled chicken pasta with smoked bacon. After you’ve finished eating, you can amble over to the nearby beach or let the little ones scramble about in the grassy lawn outside the restaurant.

If you live around the Punggol area, this is a welcoming and tranquil spot to take the family to for a delightful weekend brunch. It’s located along the picturesque Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk, which has plenty of green spaces and attractions for the kids. As far as the food goes, you’ll find stellar options such as fluffy French toast, an array of baked treats and a rustic breakfast platter loaded with eggs, smoked pork sausage, corn on the cob, thick-cut bacon and sautéed mushrooms.

This breezy dining venue at Changi Village has something for everyone. Adults can sample the dizzying selection of beers on tap, while children can roam freely around the expansive outdoor area that has a swing. Likewise, the menu has options for the whole family: Wagyu cheeseburgers with bacon and chimichurri; grilled eggplant salad with mozzarella, tomato and basil; and small bites such as cheese nachos, crispy popcorn chicken and Mexican corn on the cob with chipotle butter and jalapeño parmesan.

This is certainly one that the kids will enjoy. Situated off the coastal waters of Pulau Ubin, Smith Marine is Singapore’s first and only floating restaurant – you’ll have to take a short boat ride from the mainland to get here, but that’s all part of the fun. There’s a pool table, carrom boards and board games to keep the little ones entertained as you wait for your food, plus a menu of delectable Chinese-style seafood dishes crafted with the freshest catch – think crispy calamari, chilli crab and seafood fried rice.

This Palawan Beach hotspot is a favourite among families for its relaxed atmosphere, proximity to HydroDash (a floating aquatic playground made of eye-catching inflatable structures) and large pool. Tuck into moreish Mediterranean-inspired cuisine such as ham croquettes, crispy roasted suckling pig and burrata and tomato salad. And for dessert, you can treat the kids to molten chocolate cake with salted caramel ice cream or Basque burnt cheesecake with strawberry sorbet.

For a family-friendly waterside dining option in the heart of the city, look no further than Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer at Marina Bay Sands. Kids are sure to love the gargantuan milkshakes chock-full with all manner of colourful ingredients, as well as the burgers served with your choice of French fries, onion rings or sweet potato fries. They also offer a range of hearty salads, if that’s more up your alley. Marina Bay, located right outside the restaurant, makes for a fun post-meal stroll.

Order from the children’s menu and your kid will get a free juice to go with their main dish. The restaurant’s environment is casual and welcoming, and you can even nab a family-style sharing platter for everyone to dig into together.
