Always on the hunt for new dining spots? We bring you sound bites on where to eat, including new rwestaurant and eatery openings, the best places for your after-work tipple, and what’s new in the food scene.
Chow down on new burgers and rolls at Burgs' newest concept, enjoy champagne along with a game of mahjong at Andaz, or tantalise your tastebuds with Bedrock Origin's succulent seafood and meat menu.
Alley on 25’s Lazy Breakfast experience is getting an update with the addition of local specialities from Andaz properties around the world. The Global Edition, available every weekend and on public holidays at Andaz Singapore, will run for four months from September.
In September, it'll take you on a gastronomic trip to Bali, with local delights from Andaz Bali like the Nasi Goreng Bebek which spotlights flavourful Balinese spiced duck, Soto Madura with slow-cooked Australian Black Angus Beef Brisket, and boozy Nusa Cana Rim. You can also savour other regular Lazy Breakfast menu items like the Croque Madame with French fries, Lobster Mac & Cheese and free-flow of waffles with ice cream and profiteroles.
It will be followed by a celebration of Munich cuisine in October; a nod to Seoul in November; and a tribute to Tokyo with Japanese cuisine in December.
Lazy Breakfast Global Edition at Alley on 25 is available from 12PM to 2:30PM from Sept 2021, and is priced at SGD 50++ per person. Visit Andaz Singapore's website for more information.
And if you love a game of mahjong, get two of your khakis and sign up for the hotel's new Mahjong & Champagne Experience. A tie-up with Dayaway and local company Mahjonglah, the 2.5-hour session will be held in a Large Suite, where both novices and experienced players can glean tips and tricks from a master mahjong player.
You'll also get a bottle of Delamotte Champagne as well as a platter of sweet and savoury bites for three.
Priced at $750++ for three people, the Mahjong & Champagne experience is available for booking every Wednesday and Thursday through 2021. Visit Andaz Singapore's website for reservations and more information.
Halal burger chain has opened a new outpost at 313@Somerset. The fast-casual chain is helmed by Muhd Shah Indra Jasni, as well as Mohd Ridzuab Ayob, both who have had stints at Michelin-starred establishments.
What's new: The Marinara Burger (from $5.90) with a beef patty drizzled with punchy homemade tomato sauce, Salmon Roll spotlighting air-flown Norwegian salmon with Japanese mayo, a limited edition Nasi Lemak Burger ($5.60) and a Lotus Biscoff Shake ($5.90), among others.
The resto has also made improvements to old favourites. The Burgs Classic Cheese Burger (from $6.90), for instance, takes on a local spin with pickled green chilli and crunchy shallots accompanying a handcrafted beef patty. We also enjoyed the Crispy Fish Burger (from $7.90) that saw battered Alaskan pollack sandwiched between soft airy buns. Complete your meal with the truffle fries ($5.90) or the new Nuggies with Cheese Dip ($5.90). The slightly spicy juicy chicken chunks are fried to crisp perfection and served with a homemade nacho cheese sauce.
Just from Aug 21 to 27, Burgs will be dishing out an exclusive free Chilli Cheese Burger with every set meal purchased from Burgs 313@Somerset, limited to the first 100 customers daily. Terms and conditions apply.
Burgs is at #05-01 to 03, 313@Somerset, Singapore 238895.
Homegrown award-winning steakhouse Bedrock Bar & Grill has a new offshoot: Bedrock Origin, located at the Oasia Resort Sentosa.
Drawing inspiration from its coastal location, you can expect to look forward to a menu that marries elements of the land and sea, including a new array of seafood options, dry-aged meats including fish, as well as roasted harvests, in addition to the Bedrock's signature steaks.
Share a dish of grilled aged whole turbot or Aged Barramundi Tail ($88++), savour the exquisite Kingfish Sashimi ($42++) with brown rice puff, chopped wasabi and ceviche soy dressing, or dig into the house specialty of the Beef Fat Fried Rice ($16++ ).
If you're in the mood for beef, a star player is the Tankaku Wagyu Striploin ($158 ++ for 300g) that features less marbling and lean, tender meat, alongside other Bedrock classics. Plant-based meat alternatives, as well as keto-friendly options are available.
In celebration of the new opening, diners will receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine with any order of a main dish at Bedrock Origin and Bedrock Bar & Grill in the month of September 2021.
