Dive into Mediterranean flavours at new grill restaurant White Marble

Black Steak restaurant is best known for its steaks, but owner and F&B veteran Otto Weibel is taking his latest venture in another culinary direction: the Mediterranean.

The new grill restaurant, located at Orchard Rendezvous Hotel, will focus on three Mediterranean regions — the Middle East, Southern Europe and Northern Africa — with the menu brought to life by Otto Weibel's protege, executive chef Kenneth Loke.

Start with appetisers like the Roasted Butternut Squash ($12++) and chargrilled Octopus ($36++), or get the signature Mezze Plate ($34++ for two) to share. We're told the Prawn Bucatini Puttanesca ($28++) is a top choice for mains. From the grill, you'll get smoke-kissed dishes like Seafood ($38++) with skewered prawns, swordfish and octopus, and the Chicken Leg Bone-In Tagine ($60++ for two).

For the sweet-toothed, try the Fig & Almond Tart ($16++ or the Crema Catalana ($16++) to end your meal.

White Marble opens Feb 21, 2022 at #01-09 Orchard Rendezvous Hotel, Singapore 247905. Click here for reservations

Seven years after it shuttered its last outlet in Singapore due to the departure of their then-Penangite chef, Penang eatery Gurney Drive is back on our shores. More specifically, the seafront Northshore Plaza II in Punggol.

Iconic Penang-style hawker staples can be found on the menu, like the tangy Assam Laksa ($5.90++), Fried Hokkien Mee ($7.50++), and Penang Prawn Noodles  ($6.90), which boasts a broth of prawn heads, flower crabs and chicken bones that's been left to simmer for over six hours. And for die-hard fans of Penang-style Fried Kway Teow ($7.90++), you'll find it here with a smoky wok hei, prawns, cockles, bean sprouts and eggs. And these dishes all boast lots of sinfully addictive pork lard.

Other plates to try include the Penang Nasi Lemak ($6.50++), Penang Cendol($2.50++) and Bubur Hitam ($2.50++).

Gurney Drive is at #02-03 Northshore Plaza II, 418 Northshore Drive, Singapore 820418.
