La Bottega Enoteca named top pizzeria in Singapore, serves up new menu additions

La Bottega Enoteca has been crowned Singapore's best pizza spot in the 50 Top Pizza Asia Pacific 2023 list by 50 Top Pizza. And to celebrate, the Italian restaurant helmed by chef-owner Antonio Miscellaneo has rolled out a new menu.

Nestled within the Joo Chiat enclave, the restaurant's dimmed lights, rustic interiors and brick walls transport you to an Italian piazza. The 38-seater has both alfresco and indoor seats, or you can perch at the counter to watch the pizza-making action.

Kick things off with the Calamaretti Alla Griglia ($25++), a starter of smoky and tender baby calamari served with an earthy and minty green pea puree, and crispy kale.

Then it's on to the pies, or what Miscellaneo has coined 'Newpolitan' style pizzas, a modern riff on the classic Naples-style pizza. It uses 72-hour slow-fermented dough made with a mix of unrefined and low-refined Italian flours, yielding a perfect marriage of airy and chewy with that signature charred, poufy crust. I tried the new Mortadella ($32++ for half/ $58++ for full), which has a delightful mix of mortadella, red pesto, and basil atop indulgent parmesan fondue. Pistachios and sweet potato crisps add texture and crunch.

For secondi, don't miss the Pluma Alla Griglia ($58++) or grilled Spanish Iberico Pluma that's rich, flavourful and tender. Go easy on the fried Sicilian capers garnished atop with each bite, little flavour bombs that pack an intensely briny oomph.

Desserts shine, too. Cheese lovers will enjoy Seadas ($14++), a Sardinanian delicacy of a large fried ravioli stuffed with nutty cow's cheese and drizzled with honey.

La Bottega Enoteca is at 346 Joo Chiat Rd, Singapore 427596. Visit its website for reservations or more information.
