There’s been a bunch of new, independent Singaporean skincare brands sprouting in the past few years – Alcheme, Sigi Skin, Yours, Kew Organics, Bskin, Two Halves, Liht Organics, and more.
While we’re in a nationalistic mood this week, get to know three more under-the-radar home-grown skincare brands that are making a mark in the beauty industry:
Founded by Farah Bashir (this lady has a background in cosmetic science) last year in 2020, Sachi Skin’s products were formulated to suit both darker and lighter skin tones with varying sensitivities. According to the brand, all ingredients in the likes of super nutrients are clinically proven to be effective. The brand’s packaging are sustainable as well – FSC paper, biodegradable bubble wraps, reusable paper bags, glass bottles etc.
There are currently three products under Sachi Skin’s belt, namely the:
- Triphala Pigmentation Corrector ($119.99) to help fade pigmentation
- Ursolic Acid & Retinal Overnight Reform ($121.99) to plump skin, reducing lines
- Complexion Clarifying Accelerator ($97.99) to clarify and resurface the skin
Skincare products aside, the brand launched a free e-book about hyperpigmentation on their website, answering some of the most common questions we have about hyperpigmentation such as: which skin tones are more prone to getting hyperpigmentation, how does hyperpigmentation form, the different types of spots, and the treatment modalities.
How about an all-natural deodorant made by a fellow Singaporean with plant-based ingredients wholly sourced locally and from our neighbouring countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia? Founded by Tan Jing Jun in October 2020, Jomingo‘s deodorants come in six different versions:
- Natural Origin & Plant Based Deodorant Grapefruit ($22)
- Natural Origin & Plant Based Deodorant Tea Tree & Mint ($22)
- Natural Origin & Plant Based Deodorant Unscented ($22)
- Grapefruit Aluminium-free Natural Deodorant Stick ($21)
- Litsea Cubeba Aluminium-free Natural Deodorant Stick ($21)
- Unscented Aluminium-free Natural Deodorant Stick ($21)
Deodorants aside, Jomingo creates vegan hand balms to deeply nourish tired and dry hands from the constant contact with detergents and sanitisers.
