As we age, gravity takes over and jawlines which were once firm and taut might show signs of sagging. While we firmly believe in ageing gracefully, there should be no shame in wanting to look like J.Lo when we hit 50 years old either.

Aesthetic treatments like the ones featured below are minimally invasive, and best done when the first signs of ageing shows. They can help address and delay signs of skin ageing like loss of volume, firmness and skin elasticity.
Juvederm is a brand of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and they are available in a variety of viscosity from fluid to rigid. According to Dr Melvin Tan of Epion Clinic, Volux is the most robust and rigid filler of the range, and is excellent for contouring chin, jawline, nose and cheeks. Each treatment is able to last anywhere between 18 to 24 months.
Profhilo is a relatively new treatment that is available in Singapore even though it has been popular in Europe for the last two years. “Profhilo is almost like a cross between fillers and skin boosters,” comments Dr YZ Tan of Mizu Aesthetic Clinic. “It’s a bio-remodelling injectable which induces collagen synthesis.” This cosmetic injection is most suitable for people with dry, crepey skin and would be injected on five points on each side of the face to improve volume and hydration.
HIFU (or High Intensity Focused Ultrasound), is a treatment that uses ultrasound energy to reach the Superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) level of skin to tighten muscles, therefore improving firmness especially around the jowls, jawbones and cheeks. It also helps to stimulate collagen production for firmer-looking skin. Results are often visible about one month after treatment as it’s dependent on skin’s natural collagen synthesis.
Ultherapy also uses ultrasound energy to stimulated skin’s collagen production. However, the Ultherapy device allows for a real time feedback of the skin’s layer, allowing for a more accurate delivery of the ultrasound energy. The results, like HIFU, would take at least one month to be visible, as it’s dependent on the skin’s collagen regeneration.
