This January, Netflix will be airing a new reality TV series called ‘Bling Empire‘.
Call it an Asian version of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians‘ or a reality TV show version of ‘Crazy Rich Asians‘, if you will. Either way, the eight 45-minute episodes offer a look at the ballin’ lifestyles of a group of Asian American friends in Los Angeles, according to Netflix. We’re looking at “it’s only $19,000 a month”-for-rent kind of rich.

According to the streaming giant’s description of the show, you’ll get to “follow LA’s wildly wealthy Asian and Asian American fun seekers as they go all out with fabulous parties, glamour, and drama in this reality series’. In fact, it’s just put out a juicy trailer brimming with luxury cars, designer labels, plenty of bling, and equally as much tea-spilling. Plus, well, rich people problems.
The official synopsis also adds, “While their days and nights are filled with fabulous parties and expensive shopping sprees, don’t let the glitz and glamour fool you. Between running multi-billion dollar businesses and travelling the world, these friends are as good at keeping secrets as they are at spilling them. And there is certainly no shortage of secrets.”
Here’s a look at some of the cast members:
Yes, there’s a Singaporean in the mix. Kane Lim, now based in the US, is the scion of a Singaporean billionaire.
Visit his Instagram page and you’ll find the 30-year old’s flamboyant and totally extravagant sense of style on display – including rows of shoes from Louboutin, Dior, and the like, as well as stacks of Cartier diamond bangles, and Audemars Piguet and Franck Muller watches.
According to him, he also started his own business at the age of 17, raking in his first million at the age of 20.
The daughter of billionaire Ken Xie, the founder, and CEO of US-based internet security company Fortnet, Jaime Xie was born in California and is only 22. A front-row regular, she’s also built quite a following as an Instagram influencer.
She’s not just a fashionista, though. The former competitive equestrian also ranked first in the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Small Junior Hunter 16-17 Division.
You may find Kim Lee a familiar face; the jet setting model-DJ’s a highly sought-name in the electronic music industry, is the host of MTV Asia’s “YO! MTV Raps” and has also made a cameo in The Hangover Part II.
Daughter of French and Vietnamese parents, she grew up in Orange Country, California.
Christine Chiu is the wife of celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Gabriel Chiu. On her Instagram page, she also describes herself as a philanthropist, investor, and couture collector.
In 2016, she made headlines when she said she didn’t want “celebrities’ sloppy seconds” when it came to purchasing and being seen in couture gowns. Hop onto her Instagram page and you’ll be greeted by travel pictures, snaps of private jets and yacht trips – all in couture and designer togs, of course.
The Chius also teamed up with Britain’s Prince Charles to open a wellness centre in Scotland.
The South Korean model as well as lifestyle and fitness coach was born in Seoul, Korea but raised in America by his adoptive parents.
Following his success in Korea as a model, he returned to the US to pursue a career as an actor and further establish himself as an international model.
‘Bling Empire’ airs on Netflix on Jan 15, 2020.
