Because of COVID-19, everyone (infants and toddlers below two are excluded) is advised to wear a face mask every time they leave their house. However, you don’t need to relegate you and your family to the standard-issue black or white reusable face masks. Like clothing, jewellery and accessories, there are stylish options that cater to every member in your family. There are also plenty of options when it comes to face masks for kids.
And if you haven’t heard, Disney has created a line of face masks for the whole family designed based on popular characters and franchises including Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar. Unfortunately, these aren’t available in Singapore but we found a close second. Read on to find out what it is and other cute reusable face mask options that will keep your children protected and have them looking adorable.
E-commerce retailer Zalora has created a series of designs related to the Disney family. Motifs range from favourites such as Mickey Mouse and Ariel, the Little Mermaid, to Marvel superheroes including Ironman and Spiderman. The reusable face masks are available in large and small sizes, so you can have matching masks with your little ones!
Besides the unicorn, NeoNatal has two other cute printed designs. One is named Baa Baa Grey Sheep with sheep prints on a grey mask and the other is Pink Daisy, floral prints on a fuchsia mask. These handmade masks are created for children aged seven and up, plus adults. NeoNatal also retails other patterns and an ear loop extender for those who can’t fit standard mask sizes.
Created in collaboration with The Smiley Company, the range of water-repellant face mask contains the iconic smiley face emojis that we pepper in our text messaging. It is made with a blend of cotton, lycra and modal and can be washed and reused for up to 10 times. The masks are made free size so they might fit older children and adults better.
Singaporean childrenswear label Le Petit Society has released a line of reusable face masks for the entire family. Featuring prints for the animal-lovers such as penguins, leopards and koalas, these two-ply cotton and spandex face masks come in a range of sizes for adults and children upwards of two. Le Petit Society also retails reusable face masks with gingham pattern and medical-grade non-reusable masks.
Patpat is an American label that specialises in creating and curating stylish and functional clothing and products for both mothers and children. This reusable mask is made with breathable material and comes in a whole slew of unique and cute designs including walruses, cats and cars. It is free size and measures 7.87 inches by 4.72 inches (20 cm by 12 cm).
Fans of tokidoki will fall in love with these masks from Enchanté, a local label and licensee of the lifestyle label. Their two-ply masks have one cotton layer and another treated to be up to 99.4 percent antibacterial. They also have one size for adult and children respectively as well as other cute patterns available.

These masks are available for preorder and come in a variety of fun prints ranging yellow rubber ducks to princess-themed designs. The cotton masks from this collection are made in three sizes – XXS, XS and S – that will fit children upwards of three and most adult females, while other collections cater to both children and adults.
Independent Market is another homegrown label where you can preorder playfully designed reusable face masks for your kids. Their two-ply cotton face masks are sold in sets and come in a variety of patterns including dinosaurs and unicorns to penguins and vehicles. Three sizes are available and fit children upwards of two.
Marvelous Works is a Singaporean social enterprise that supports single mothers and underprivileged women. Their 100 percent cotton face masks are vibrant and colourful, with prints such as Mickey Mouse and Tsum Tsum, and are fitted with a nose wire to create a snug fit. They have two sizes for children – Pre-school (11.5 cm by 9 cm) and Kids (13.5cm by 9cm) – as well as two sizes for adults (15.5 cm by 12cm and 17.5 cm by 13.5 cm). Each mask is also built with a slot to add a disposable filter such as kitchen towels or dried wet wipes for extra protection.
Unlike the other iterations that are mostly two-ply, Hiro & Jack’s reusable face mask is five-ply and touts N95 mask capabilities thanks to a filter that can block out PM2.5 particles. The masks won’t be scratchy too, as the external and face-touching layer is made with cotton. They are available for preorder and come in five sizes – XS to M to for kids and L/XL for adults. You also have the option of adding an exhale valve for extra comfort and breathability.
While Sea Apple is not a social enterprise, they have pledged 20 percent of all proceeds from their face masks to The Courage Fund under the National Council of Social Services. The Fund supports people who are impacted by COVID-19. Their two-ply cotton masks are available in one size, made with past season fabrics and contain a pocket to add an additional filter. They also do the same print in a single adult size in case you want to go matchy-matchy with your children.
The Mask Like is an Australian label that dedicates itself to creating reusable masks for both adults and children. The colourful dinosaur print, our favourite from their repertoire, is just too cute to pass up, which is probably why it is currently sold out and will be restocked soon. The mask is also reversible and is made with polyester.
Every face mask purchased from homegrown label Maison Q, whether for yourself or your offspring, goes to support someone less privileged. Locally, 20 percent of the proceeds go to Happy Stork Programme by BABES to support teenage mothers from low-income families. Each three-ply cotton mask also supports Maison Q’s Indonesian artisans. They have multiple print designs available made with leftover fabrics and the child-size is made for those aged four to 12.
Using the famed Liberty prints, Elizabeth Little’s line of reusable face mask is fun and colourful. Besides their iconic floral prints, there are Hot Wheels and Dapper Dogs-inspired designs to choose from. Their three-ply cotton masks are also built with a pocket that allows you to insert a filter. Made for children between the ages of three to eight.
