It's been hot, hot, hot in Singapore lately and the sun has been blazing. But don't let that deter your fun - have a splashing great time with the kids at one of the many water playgrounds and water parks in Singapore.

Planning to take your little one for a splash? Here are a few things to remember to pack!

  • Wet bags or plastic bags for wet clothes
  • Swimsuits for the kids – and most likely one for you as it's inevitable one of the adults will have to "dive in"
  • A change of clothes for everyone
  • Towels
  • Sunscreen (for the whole family)
  • Hats for the kids
  • Flip flops with good grippy soles

Buangkok Square Water Park

North Easties, listen up. The aquatic-themed Buangkok Square Water Park just opened in March 2024. It’s located between blocks 986D and 992A and includes a gated water park and dry playground that’s open 24 hours. 

The water park has plenty of splash elements, from dragonfly-themed spray fountains to a tipping bucket. Your little ones ones can frolic in the stream-like play area or cool off in the various water fountains dotting the landscape. There’s also an open washing area featuring showering facilities, perfect for those who want to clean up before heading home. 

Once they’ve had enough water play, head to the village-themed dry playground adjacent to the water park, where they can climb the net tunnels or have a go at the swings.

Opening hours: Daily, 8am to 8pm. The dry playground is open 24/7.

KidzPlay @ SkyGarden

Here's more good news for those in the North East: the newly renovated KidzPlay @ SkyGarden, located on the fourth floor of NEX, is now open to public. It’s a pirate theme with slides coming down a ship, octopus-shaped structures, water fountains, and more. If the kids don’t want to get wet, there’s also a dry playground area for them to run around in.

Happy Park @ Waterway Point

On level 2 of Waterway Point in Punggol, you’ll find Happy Park wet play area. It’s a massive free playground with fun items like jet sprays and water curtains, tunnel slides, and a trampoline. The colourful playground includes a large wading pool, which the kids can splash around in. Once they’re done cooling off at the wet play area, there’s also a dry playground area. 

While you’re there, head down to The Cove at basement 2, where you'll find a water fountain play area with water shooters that mimic the intensity of rain.

Aqua Adventure at HomeTeamNS Bedok Reservoir

Singapore’s latest indoor waterpark promises kids of all ages (but in particular 12 years old and above) a thrilling time with the longest water slide ever built in Singapore. The twisty, turning tube slide measures 114m and you can either head down on your own if you’re very very brave, or take it a bit more gently on a float.

Other water activities to try include the Ninja Warrior-style rope course as well as the Laze Pool with its floating platforms that will give you a chance to rest after all the adrenaline pumping stuff.

Egg Splash at Bird Paradise [NEW!]

An unusual, egg-themed water playground, the newly-opened Egg Splash promises to bump up the fun following time spent with various birds at Bird Paradise. Lined with multicoloured egg-like structures, this park has water slides, sprays and shallow pools for children to wade through with ease. With the nearby sheltered pavilion, shops and cafes, parents can relax while their kids explore the play area.

Looking to cool off after an afternoon of kite flying? Then Marina Barrage offers the ideal location. The water play area is small but children are allowed to skip and hop amongst the fountains and shallow water features. 

Note that the park will close in the event of heavy rain, lightning alerts, or urgent maintenance. It may be useful to call the Marina Barrage Information Centre before making your way down.

This colourful two-storey playground is where you’ll find slides, water jets, and sprays. There’s also a wading pool with a little bucket seat carousel for the younger ones. Singapore Zoo’s revamped kiddy play zone is the perfect end to a day of visiting animal buddies. It reopened with seven zones, including indoor and outdoor petting zoos, a Play Trees playground, and a water maze.

Called Splish Splash, you’ll walk under the splashing buckets at the entrance before heading to the ever-changing water maze. It’s an interactive wet playground, where the kids can hunt for a secret code to unlock the changing maze patterns. This is a great way for the kids to cool down after walking around in Singapore's humidity.

To get in the wet play area, kids will have to wear the appropriate swimwear. There are also showers and changing booths right outside.

The one-of-a-kind floating obstacle course, safe and family-friendly, will keep children entertained while gently challenging them. Looking for ways to teach children some cool facts without getting in the way of fun? Waterworks at the Science Centre is just the place for it. Kids get the chance to put their intellect to the test as they navigate a water maze, designed to teach them about the role water plays in our world. Curious souls can go one step further and learn how to measure rainfall with the help of the Water Clock Tower which incorporates a rain gauge. Teach your kids with this little excursion that learning can be done in or out of the classroom (and can be lots of fun to boot).

Westgate Wonderland is a sprawling, 11,000-square-foot play area inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The park feels like another world, with its gigantic flowers and tree-like structures. It also houses a small but perfectly enjoyable water play area that will be great for the kids to cool off from the day’s heat. Expect to be doused by the giant watering can or flee with glee from the jets of water that shoot from the ground.

There are 17 different play stations and children are free to roam through them as they please.
