For those who are shy, opening up about yourself can be incredibly nerve-wracking, much less opening up about your bedroom desires. If you’re fumbling around the topic of sex with your partner, why not turn to card games?
With fun prompts and bold questions that encourage players along a path of vulnerability and intimacy, these spicy and fun conversation starters are designed for you to get to know your partner better, build intimacy and learn new things that you never knew before.
Cult-favourite card game We’re Not Really Strangers, simply known by the acronym WNRS, has launched a new card game, XXX. A card game for those aged 18 and older, the XXX edition is meant to initiate conversations around sex and relationships.
Designed for one to “ask the questions you’ve never dared to ask”, the game promotes a “no shame, just honesty” policy and players are encouraged to sign a consent form to agree to create a sexual safe space. It features 300 questions and wildcards, alongside two transparent Go Deeper cards that encourage one to dig deeper into their feelings.
Truth or dare takes a new spin with this social card game from homegrown sexual wellness company Hedonist. Named Letz Get Naughty, the 69-card deck features 59 bold questions (“Have you ever faked an orgasm? If so, why honey?”) and 10 spicy dares (“Dirty talk to the person directly opposite you for 15 seconds.”).
Whether it’s played at a bachelorette party, friend gathering, or any other occasion, the card game is intended to “initiative fun conversations to deepen connections in a judgement-free zone whilst liberating the taboos around sex and pleasure”.
To help couples understand each other on a deeper level, Durex has launched a new card game: the A-Z of Pleasure. As part of the of brand’s larger campaign #ComeTogether, A-Z of Pleasure is a 52-card deck that encourages couples to normalise sex conversations in their relationship, and communicate what pleasure is to them by playing the game.
The card game was co-created with nine contributors across Singapore and Malaysia, including content creators like Munah Bagharib and Chow Jia Hui, and intimacy coaches like Dr. Angela Tan of the Academy of Relationship & Sex.
There are two types of cards within the deck: the ‘Learn’ cards are designed to help couples expand their understanding of each other, while the ‘Play’ cards feature cheeky actions that players will have to carry out. While the physical cards are currently out-of-stock at the time of writing, you can access the card game for free online at Durex’s campaign website.
Designed for couples to take things to the next level, the Let’s Get Deep adult card game features 500 cards that range along three levels of intimacy (‘Ice Breaker’, ‘Deep’, and ‘Deeper’). Each card is a chance for the couple to get to know each other, ranging from thought-provoking prompts (“Do you believe in second chances?”) to flirty questions (“What’s the sexiest thing about me?”).
If you’re looking to take things up a notch, the ‘After Dark’ expansion pack features even bolder questions that are both hilarious and eye-opening at the same time.
There is something inherently vulnerable about having sex, and for those who are looking to bare their souls and open up to their bedroom partner before things proceed further, the Actually Curious: Curiosity Edition card game is perfect for probing deeper into each other.
The beautifully-designed set features 52 cards with four levels. You’ll start with blue, where you’ll find the easiest questions, before levelling up to green, yellow, and red (the most intimate questions). Intended to encourage one to be more vulnerable as you build trust, the cards are based on the science of trust-building and emotional intelligence.
