One in six Singaporean couples experience infertility, which is defined as taking longer than 12 months to conceive if you’re aged younger than 35, and six months if you’re older than 35.
And according to Virtus Fertility Centre‘s new medical director, Dr Ann Tan, infertility is on the rise.
“One of the main causes of the actual rise is the rising age of marriage. However, male and female fertility cannot be attributed to a single cause. There is a diverse range of contributing factors which can have an impact on fertility issues including exposure to chemicals, pollution, stress and an unhealthy diet and lifestyle,” she says.
