One of the reasons why we love Bangkok and Thailand so much is its amazing food. The combination and balance of sweet, sour, savoury and importantly, spicy, are key features of the cuisine that continues to keep our tastebuds enthralled. But if you’re a Muslim or eschew the consumption of pork for dietary reasons, finding halal Thai food in Bangkok can be rather tricky especially if you still want to appreciate Thai flavours. That’s why we have rounded up 10 restaurants, street food eateries and a night market that serves halal Thai food you will want to check out the next time you head to Bangkok.
What is a trip to Bangkok without shopping at the Chatuchak Weekend Market? The weekend-only daytime market has a smorgasbord of items from fashion and beauty to home decor and art. And once you’re tired and need a pitstop to refuel, head to Saman Islam located conveniently near the clock tower. Fan favourites are the Pad Thai, Mango Sticky Rice and Beef Noodle Soup.

Another major shopping area for cheap clothing in Bangkok is the Pratunam area with the namesake market and Platinum Fashion Mall in the vicinity. Maedah Restaurant is situated amidst the bustling chaos of the area. The eatery is slightly pricier than others but makes up for it with its location and extensive menu serving up halal Thai, Middle Eastern and Western food.

Ramkhamhaeng Night Market is near Ramkhamhaeng University and Rajamangala National Stadium. Consequently, it is a little far and we recommend taking a taxi there. But once you’re there, the night market plays host to a large collection of halal food stalls peddling popular Thai street food including salads, barbecued skewers and desserts. There are also clothing and accessory shops too.
