Also in the East at the Marine Cove enclave at East Coast Park, East Coast Commune offers a large airy space where you can kick back and relax while diving into specialty coffee, cold-pressed juices, brunch fare, pasta, sourdough waffles, and more. Meanwhile, the kiddos can tuck into pancakes, a breakfast platter, and pasta. Or if you like, you can even order a picnic set (for two or four) to enjoy at East Coast Park.
If you decide to stay in the comfortable, beautifully-designed interiors, there is a nice, private nursing room for mums plus a small space for kids to wander.
East Coast Commune is at 1000 ECP, #01-03, Singapore 449876. Visit its website for more information.
Located conveniently in the Parkland Green enclave of East Coast Park, Brewerkz not only has an excellent kids’ menu featuring pizza, pastas, and burgers, it is also a pet-friendly spot that will have your kids oohing and ahhhing over the fluffy (and feathered) friends they might meet there. Adults can enjoy the restaurant’s variety of craft beers, including its Singapore series, as well as a hearty selection of pizzas, soups, salads, and sharing platters. The indoor-outdoor seating options keep things casual and comfortable and make it a great place to stop by after a morning cycling through the park.

With two locations, an old stalwart in Changi Village and newer outlets in Gillman Barracks and South Beach, Little Island Brewing Co. is spreading its chilled-out, high-quality food and craft beers across the island. The locations are designed with lots of space, so that kids have the freedom to play and move around without being (too much of) a bother. On weekends, the restaurant even trots out more entertainment such as motorised vehicles and bouncy castles. They’re also a great location for kids’ parties and can help to organise the event and include face painting, balloon sculpting, and games amongst other activities for the event.
Little Island Brewing Co. is located at 6 Changi Village Road, Singapore 509907, 43 Malan Rd, Singapore 109443 and South Beach Avenue, 26 Beach Rd, #B1-16, Singapore 189768. Visit its website for more information.
One of Singapore’s best-kept secrets according to our mum friends, Hort Park is a beautiful, quiet park to bring your kids for a run, explore the greenery and play on the three playground areas (admittedly these are small and a little old, but it’s not something kids would worry about so neither should you), and the Nature Playgarden with nine different play features.
Just a short five- to eight-minute walk away is Canopy Cafe serving up homely grub ranging from pasta and pizzas, as well as a dedicated menu for kids, including cheese toasties, nuggets, pasta, and the ever-popular babycino.
Canopy also has other outlets at Esplanade, Changi Village, and Changi City Point.
Canopy Cafe at HortPark is at #01-01, 33 Hyderabad Road, HortPark, S119578. Visit its website for more information.

The Pantry is connected to Kids Space (formerly b.together), a family club offering activities and workshops which even non-members can sign up for. Find out more here.

With three locations in some of the most populated malls (and areas) in the country, Marche is a great, reliable choice for a meal with the kids. Never mind the easily accessible food from pizza to pasta and kids’ meals that come with a juice and ice cream, the fact that there is always a small play area makes this one of the restaurants your kids will ask to go back to again and again and again. The 313 Somerset venue has just undergone a refresh, and the original playground has had an upgrade with the addition of a colourful bridge and slide.
Marche has three locations, the one at Orchard is located at 313 Orchard Rd, #01-40 Level 1, Singapore 238895. Visit its website for more information.
It’s just a small playground attached to the food court, but in our experience, it has given back tonnes in terms of time spent. Little ones will be entertained by the see-saw, mini suspension bridge, and slides – while you have the option of dining on kid-friendly local food (we are fans of the BBQ chicken wings there). It may not seem like much but somehow the kids know how to turn it into a ball of fun. Further down there are paid rides (which we all want to avoid right?), as well as a free electronic game older kids might enjoy.
Food Republic @ 313 Somerset is at 313 Somerset Rd, Singapore 238895.
A restaurant specialising in chocolate? What kid wouldn’t happily eat there? But local chocolatier Mr. Bucket’s flagship in Dempsey is more than just a dessert haven. Having recently revamped its menu to spotlight Southeast Asian cacao in savoury dishes, there’s plenty on there for adults and children to enjoy. The kids’ menu features an egg slider, fish and chips, and beef sliders. The most exciting draw will definitely be the chocolate decorating kit that comes with sprinkles and marshmallows.
Everyone will also enjoy Mr. Bucket’s Creation Station, where they can work together to create their own chocolate bar, customising it with toppings like nuts, spice,s and dried fruits. How’s that for a bonding activity?
Mr. Bucket is located at 13 Dempsey Rd, #01-03/04, Singapore 249674. Visit its website for more information.
When your kids wake up early (as they all do) and you need that quick shot of caffeine to get you going, parents turn to TBB Safari in Dempsey for its sprawling space for kids to roam, as well as Common Man Coffee Roasters’ brews. Part of the Tiong Bahru Bakery group, you can expect great pastries and sandwiches for everyone to enjoy. The whole area is al fresco, but there are plenty of portable air conditioners scattered to keep everyone cool. A plus for those who drive: free parking is available.
Another early morning option is Tiong Bahru Bakery Fort Canning, which opens bright and early at 7.30am.

Brunch or a lazy afternoon snack by the beach is a great family outing. It gives the adults time to enjoy a drink or two while the kids run rampant by the calm waters of Siloso Beach. This seaside restaurant is extremely family-friendly, with a nursing room and nappy-changing facilities, toddler-sized tables, and even a small wading pool.
While you’re kicking back, check out its Hawaiian-influenced menu and treat yourself to a Hapu Upu U (Hawaiian grouper) or Ono Laiki Tiger Prawn. The kids’ menu offers options like fish and chips, macaroni au gratin, and beef bolognese.
Ola Beach Club is located at 46 Siloso Beach Walk, Sentosa, Singapore 099005. Visit its website for more information.
The beauty of Trapizza is that it proves that children don’t need complicated or over-the-top entertainment to keep them occupied. The beachside Italian restaurant on Siloso Beach offers kids an opportunity to dine alfresco on excellent wood-fired pizzas and hearty Italian cuisine. Kids’ meals come in cute, car-shaped plates, which are surprisingly entertaining.
Best of all, the restaurant has a small water play area just beside the outdoor dining that, while simple, can keep children entertained for a surprisingly long time. While the bathrooms are not great for changing wet children, we’re pretty sure they’ll be happy drip-drying in the sun on the way home.
Trapizza is at 10 Siloso Beach Walk, Singapore 098995. Visit its website for more information.
Open Farm Community is one of the best places to spend time with the kids. The Oval isn’t quite a restaurant, but rather a lifestyle and family destination. Located at Seletar Aerospace, it features refurbished black and white bungalows, now housing a variety of restaurants. It’s definitely a great place to explore for some greenery and space. Little ones obsessed with airplanes will love the airplane-themed playground, the opportunity to watch planes take off and land at Seletar Airport, and the Hangar66 Cafe, which is located in an actual hangar.
Other cafes include Wildseed Cafe, Wheeler’s Estate, as well as the unique Chow Cute cafe, a pet-friendly cafe where you can get up close and personal with the Chow Chow dogs (while enjoying a simple snack or two).

This laidback kid-friendly restaurant is another spot to swing by for weekend brunch. Over at its Dempsey branch, there's an outdoor playground with grassy turf to keep the little ones occupied.
On the menu, you'll find fresh artisan bread (don't miss its sourdough bread) and pastries, wholesome brunch options like Turkish eggs and Avo Smash, as well as fire-baked pizza and sourdough burgers from its sister brands Plank Sourdough Pizza and Mo & Jo Sourdough Burgers. Little ones can dig into the likes of spaghetti, chicken tenders, and sweet potato fries.

One clear sign that a restaurant is kid-friendly is when its kids’ menu comes as a colouring sheet. Enjoy some classic Aussie grub at this Robertson Quay staple, which also offers great views of the river and space for the kids to scoot (they can also head to the nearby playground when they’re done eating.
Start with some wagyu beef sliders, then try some authentic Australian dishes like Peppered Kangaroo Loin while the kids tuck in to pancakes, fish and chips or sausages. On weekends, expect more kid-friendly activities like face painting to keep them entertained.
Boomarang is located at 60 Robertson Quay, #01-15 The Quayside, Singapore 238252. Visit its website for more information.
Now that Dining Alley at Mandai East has opened, families visiting the wildlife parks have a lot more options when it comes to feeding the family. One good one we recently chanced upon was Japanese family restaurant Watami. Not only does the outlet offer plenty of kid-friendly options, including cute meals that come with a main, some fruit, and edamame, but there is even a small, simple play area, which is surprisingly very entertaining. At the end of the meal, kids are even gifted with a little snack bag, perfect for heading back into the parks for round two.
Watami is located at Wildlife East, Dining Alley, 80 Mandai Lake Rd, 729826. Visit its website for more information.
While we aren’t fans of using the term “hidden gem”, this indeed seems to be one. A six-minute walk from West Coast Park, this outlet of the popular cafe chain is hidden away in Oasia Residence and does consistently good brunch food with a good selection of children’s meals (though they do sell out quite quickly in the morning!). The best part is a well-contained, children’s area with a small climbing gym and foam bricks that will keep them entertained while you savour that much-needed coffee.
The proximity to West Coast park is a big bonus. The spacious, well-shaded play area is great for young kids, and having a nearby food option (that you can book!) means you don’t have to worry about where to eat after playing.
Kith West Coast is at Oasia Residence, #01-17, 123 West Coast Crescent (Located within Seahill), Singapore 126779. Visit its website for more information.
