Looking to romance your significant other this Valentine’s Day with a special meal? There’s an endless list of romantic restaurants on the island, but if you need help to spark your inspiration, then you’ll want to check out our guide on where to book come February 14. From classy joints to laid-back restaurants that afford the view of Singapore’s skyline, here’s where to get on your radar.
For a romantic date ensconced by greenery and blooms, make a booking for Hortus, which is nestled right within Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome. The Mediterranean restaurant serves vibrant salads, dips and home-baked bread alongside heartier mains, tagines and rustic dishes straight off a wood-fire grill. Our recommendations: the Fremantle octopus and Beef and Lamb Adana Kebab are absolute bangers.
Cap off your date with a stroll around the Flower Dome — entry is complimentary for Hortus diners.
From Feb 14, 2023, Hortus will be open from Tues to Sun. Closed on Mon.
Modern Middle Eastern restaurant Fat Prince is welcoming couples with a romantic evening of champagne, candles and cosy corners. Then there’s the four-course menu that starts with charcoal-fired Sakoshi oyster, before moving on to mezze with an option of saffron-spiced snapper or Fremantle octopus.
You can look forward to short ribs or black cod for mains, and chocolate tahini semifreddo to end your meal. There’s also a vegetarian menu that tempts with plates like beetroot with goat’s curd and pit-smoked pumpkin.

With its dimly lit interiors and boldly hued interiors that draw on the rich Moorish influencers of 1960s Paris, an evening at Latin-Indian izakaya Barood is set to get you in the mood for love. It serves up tantalising elevated tapas with Indian and Japanese flavours that turn up the heat – think uni with tamarind on toast, Tawa lobster yakitori and richly spiced mini pulled duck pancakes. The drinks are aptly named too — sip on cocktails like Single Tonight, a fruity raspberry and yoghurt concoction, the tropical Ready For Love with green mango and lime juice or the botanical gin-based Naked Flower.

Chinatown’s iconic Yue Hwa Building is home to fine-dining outfit Eclipse. Drawing on his background in European fare and his own Asian heritage, he serves up artfully plated fusion dishes starring his favourite ingredients and spices. The enigmatic cavern-esque interiors are a moodsetter too, with a surreal canopy of cloud-like mesh covering the ceiling.
The Valentine’s Day menu sees a five-course lunch menu with plates like pan-seared foie gras, mussels in Shaoxing butter broth, and Hokkaido seared pork with truffle tagliatelle. Dinner spans seven courses, with the addition of Hyogo oysters in an osmanthus raspberry vinaigrette, and charcoal grilled codfish. For mains, you also get braised Hoisin wagyu beef short ribs.
The Valentine’s Day menu is available only on Feb 11, 12 and 14, 2023. Eclipse is at #06-01 Yue Hwa Building, 70 Eu Tong Sen Street, Singapore 059805. Visit its website for reservations or more information.
