Since this afternoon activity can be a pricey affair, we have compiled a list of top places for affordable high tea in Singapore spots (all under $39++!) where you can sinfully indulge without busting your budget.
Surrey Hills Grocer, $34++ per person
You might know Surrey Hills Grocer for its colourful Australian-inspired cafe setting and generous brunch plates, but its new weekday high tea is another reason to make a trip to its Ion Orchard outlet.
The Garden Bites & Orchard Sweets High Tea takes cues from Singapore’s Garden City moniker, with chef Lamley Chua working local favourites such as Milo, kopi, pandan, gula melaka, char siu and calamansi into the spread.
On the savoury side, there are Pink Beet Blini, Egg Mayo Tortilla Bites and Smoky Char Siu Bao, while those with a sweet tooth can look forward to Milo Egg Pudding, Pandan Caramel Slice and Calamansi & Pineapple Pavlova. High tea feels a little more special when it comes with a bird’s-eye view of Orchard Road. Head up to Ion Sky, where Flnt serves its High Tea in the Clouds at Atico Lounge, pairing Japanese-inspired bites with the city skyline as your backdrop.
Start with savouries such as cold citrus soba, crispy spicy salmon with ikura and shiso, teriyaki unagi maki, king crab and lobster salad tartlets, and wood-smoked kamo kushiyaki. comes with an adorable two-tiered spread, complete with bear-shaped treats and a mix of sweet and savoury bites that are made for the camera before you dig in.
The patisserie selection includes bunny macarons, strawberry cream custard tartlets, blueberry maple mini pancakes, mango vanilla mousse cups and blueberry mousse cake. Arteastiq’s afternoon tea menu gives you two very different reasons to linger over a three-tier spread: familiar local flavours, or a seafood-forward selection that feels a touch more indulgent. Whichever one you pick, both sets come in at $34++ per person when shared between two.
The Journey Through Singapore Afternoon Teasery is made for those who would happily trade plain cucumber sandwiches for nasi lemak with crispy puff rice, spicy otah sandos, satay chicken and Singapore laksa with Boston lobster meat. Sweeten things up with kueh salat, ondeh-ondeh mochi balls and cendol macarons filled with palm sugar, red bean, Mao Shan Wang durian and crushed coconut cookies.
For something with a little more of a seaside feel, go for Nibbles by the Shore Afternoon Teasery. It starts with a soursop sorbet and a seasonal fresh oyster, before moving on to tuna crudo with coconut kumquat dressing, salmon cake buns with dried shrimp, baked mussels in Mongolian sauce, tropical-style scallop ceviche and cooked prawns with cocktail sauce.

L’eclair Patisserie, from $24++ per person
The dainty and exquisite eclairs from L’eclair Patisserie need no introduction. But if you’re looking for an extra Instagram-able experience, try its adorable Merry-Go-Delice Afternoon Tea set that comes in a miniature merry-go-round that spins daintily.
The set comprises the patisserie’s best-selling pastries including five mini eclairs, two pairs of scones and five pairs of savoury canapes of your choice including mini quiches and Ikura Vol-Au-Vent which is a decadent combination of cream cheese and ikura.
But if you’re looking for a more all-rounded French experience, try its tea set, L’experience, which comprises classic French pastries such as mini madeleines, chouquettes, eclairs, and financiers with one beverage each of your choice.
