Mo Bar’s recently launched a new afternoon tea menu that promises to whisk you to Japan, with five different courses of delectable bites inspired by the Land of the Rising Sun. You can expect traditional elements and flavours synonymous with Japanese dishes, like ikura, wasabi and hojicha.
Think egg rolls with mirin and ikura, smoked salmon accompanied by Hokkaido milk bread and wasabi mayo; breaded prawn with shiso and a puff pastry, as well as hojicha rolls.
It’d be easy to while away the afternoon with its extensive range of teas sourced from Asia’s famous tea-growinng regions.Also available to pair with the delectable spread are MO Bar’s range of signature regionally-inspired cocktails, or a glass of “R” de Ruinart champagne.
$48++ per person or $88++ for two. $65++ per person with one cocktail or mocktail. $68++ per person one glass of “R” de Ruinart champagne. Available daily from 3 to 5 pm. Visit its website for reservations.
Mandarin Oriental
Alley on 25, Andaz Singapore

Drawing on nature and the hotel’s herb garden at level 25, all-day dining restaurant Alley on 25 has teamed up with local gelato boutique, Birds of Paradise to roll out a Botanicals Afternoon Tea that also includes botanical gelatos and free-flow beverages.
 
Savoury highlights include the spicy Thai favourite Tom Kha, flavoured with herbs from the hotel’s garden, Spiced Chicken Pani Puri that’s grilled over charcoal, Seared Tiger Prawns, Crab Tartlet and Pumpkin Hummus with Pita. Equally tempting are its sweet treats, which sees the likes of Acai Coconut Tartlet or Golden Raisin Scones with Sakura-infused strawberry jam or clotted cream. Don’t miss the gelatos; there are Birds of Paradise cult favourites, the Pandan Gelato or Strawberry Basil Gelato.

Dessert maestro Janice Wong’s afternoon tea experiences come with a different theme each month, and for its latest 9th edition (from Sept 18), it draws on florals and botanicals. Each set will have you tucking into sweets and delectable bites that spotlight perennial blooms such as lavender and bergamot, as well as locally sourced flora and micro-herbs.

Lavender madeleines, kaffir lime caramel bonbons, kinako matcha cake, and savouries like smoked salmon sandwiches and parmigiana nuggets with tomato sauce.

The Grand Lobby, Raffles Hotel

Get a taste of traditional savoury fare and sweet treats born out of Louisiana’s Cajun, Creole and French influences without actually leaving the country. Make your way through New Orleans’ traditional savoury delights including the quintessential New Orleans Muffaletta Sandwich stuffed with cured meats and provolone cheese, or a New Orleans-style Reuben sandwich with corned beef on rye bread. The Landing Point, The Fullerton Bay Hotel

The Mid-autumn Festival might be over, but you can still indulge in exquisite afternoon tea delights that draw on The Fullerton Bay Hotel’s mooncake collection.

You can look forward to a three-tier set that comes loaded with a pistachio-green tea meringue tart, coconut raspberry-rose ispahan, osmanthus and wolfberry jelly, and more. Each set also comes with scones, clotted cream and jam for a complete teatime affair with a gorgeous waterfront view of Marina Bay.

Come October, the hotel will be launching a Pink Afternoon Tea, in conjunction with  Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

If you’re looking for a local-style afternoon tea affair, look no further than Violet Oon’s Singapore High Tea, available at its Ion Orchard and National Gallery stores.

Expect a delicious array of local picks alongside the usual high tea suspects, including kueh pie tee, chilli crab tartlet with quail egg, kueh beng kah, orh nee cream puffs,  and cream cheese sandwiches alongside your tea of choice and scones.

They take their afternoon teas very seriously here, and for the month of September, the focus is on its English Afternoon Tea with Local Favourites experience.

Soak in the poolside atmosphere while you tuck into bites like chicken bak kwa and cheddar cheese finger sandwiches, tandoor chicken open-faced sandwiches, a selection of charcuterie and cheeses, roasted meats, and desserts. You’ll also find local delights like Nyonya laksa, dry meesiam and roasted pork belly in a fried bun with chilli crab sauce.
