Want Flaky and Crunchy Croffles? Here Are 8 Places to Find Them
These bakeries, cafes and gelato shops serve some of the best croffles in Singapore — one even offers a croffle buffet
Marrying the texture of a croissant with the shape of a waffle, croffles make for a delicious breakfast, afternoon snack or dessert – here’s where to get them in Singapore.
Can’t decide between a croissant and a waffle? Croffles – a crispy, buttery and flaky treat that’s, you guessed it, a mash-up of the two items – to the rescue. A croffle features all the wonderful textural hallmarks of a croissant, but the dough is cooked in a conventional waffle iron for a flatter, grid-like appearance and a crunchier bite.
This hybrid confection is said to have originated in either South Korea or Ireland. Its popularity has skyrocketed in recent times, spreading as far as the United States, Thailand and the sunny shores of Singapore (where even BreadTalk has jumped on the croffle bandwagon). Besides the chain bakery, here’s where else you can find it.
City slickers in the CBD can satisfy their coffee and croffle cravings simultaneously at Hellu Coffee, a hole-in-the-wall venue at Far East Square that opened in early 2023. For something sweet, sample the sesame cream croffle or the dark chocolate croffle. Meanwhile, savoury options include a ham and cheese croffle, spicy tuna croffle and maple bacon croffle. You can pair your food with one of their espresso-based drinks, fragrant teas or signature “creamus” that add a dollop of dense cream to your coffee, matcha or chocolate beverage.
Hellu Coffee is at 137 Amoy Street, #01-05, Singapore 049965. Visit its Instagram page for more information.
