Swee Choon Dim Sum Restaurant

Ask any seasoned clubber about their favourite post-club hangout joint, and more often than not, their answer will be Swee Choon Dim Sum Restaurant. This beloved eatery in Jalan Besar serves hungry diners all the way till 4am.

Popular dishes include the mee suah kueh and sweet potato salted egg balls. And although Swee Choon may be best known for its dim sum, don’t miss out on their fried rice — best eaten with a dollop of chilli oil.

Opens 7am to 4am from Wed to Mon, closed on Tues. At 183/185/187/189/191/193 Jalan Besar, Singapore 208882, tel: 6225 7788. For more information visit here

Smile Dessert

Right opposite Bugis Junction is Smile Dessert, a three-storey tall pink Chinese dessert house. The dessert house serves bowls of shaved ice piled high with toppings, souffle pancakes, smoothies and more.

Opens till 4am daily, 534 North Bridge Road, #01-01, Singapore 188749, tel: 6232 7801.

R&B Express

Michelin-approved fried chicken wing joint R&B Express is situated in the iconic Newton Food Centre. The stall is easy to spot — just look out for the signboard with images of tantalising chicken wings plastered all over. Crispy and juicy, don’t forget to squeeze the lime over the wings to add some oomph, not that the wings need it anyway. Their satay and kueh pie tee are worth a try, too.

Opens till 3am, Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Mon. 500 Clemenceau Avenue North, #01-072, Singapore 229495. For more information visit here

284 Kway Chap

Open from 8pm to 2am every day, this kway chap spot may have the oddest operating hours we’ve seen, but the fact that we’ve never seen the stall without a snaking queue should be a worthy testament to how good its food is. The queue of adoring fans starts forming nearly an hour before they open for business! Do note, the elderly uncle will not sell kway chap even a minute before 6pm.

So it all works out if you go around 1am or so, as the queue is bound to have died down by then. Affordable and guaranteed to be delicious, the offal is superb, although you can easily order another set sans any innards if you’d prefer that instead.

Opens till 2am daily, 284 Bishan Street 22, Singapore 570284, tel: 9816 3117.

Good Bites

This hidden hangout spot perched on the third floor of Bishan Sports Hall doles out plates of delectable Western fare, like baked salmon, tom yum pasta and truffle fries. If you're just looking for something to nibble on, its menus offers plenty of sides and mouthwatering beverages to choose from.

Opens till 5am daily, 5 Bishan Street 14, #03-01, Singapore 579783, +65 6970 0233. For more information, visit here.

Cafe de Muse

We have to be completely honest — if you’re looking for great-tasting food that’s value for money, Cafe de Muse is not it. But if what you need is a place in Orchard that’s open past 10pm, sells food that’s not just deep fried, and has a couple of drink options (both caffeinated and not) as well as dessert, then this cafe checks all the boxes. While the food is a hit or miss, the bingsu is passable.

Opens 24 hours, 350 Orchard Road, #01-K5/K6 & #02-K4, Orchard, Singapore 238868. For more information visit here.

North

Burger Geprek

Situated in Woodlands, this Muslim-owned burger kiosk makes a mean burger. The star ingredient of their burgers is ayam geprek, fried chicken that’s mashed and topped with spicy sambal. Not a burger person? Swap out the buns for Indomie, or try the Goprek wings.

Opens till 3.30am Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday, 883 Woodlands Street 82, #01-22, Singapore 730883, tel: 8874 663.

No Horse Run

Best described as kooky, No Horse Run is tucked away in the stables of Yishun. Expect a selection of enticing flavours here, such as lemongrass pandan, yoghurt Speculoos and roasted Bronte pistachio. If you order its airy, fluffy waffles, do ask for the complimentary housemade Milo sauce to be drizzled, no, doused.

Oh and, the inspiration behind their name? It’s a Hokkien pun that basically boasts that No Horse Run’s gelato is incomparable. Only one way to find out!

Opens till 1am daily, 160 Yishun Street 11, #01-216, Singapore 760160, tel: 8385 3839.

Chong Pang Nasi Lemak

Forget your perception of nasi lemak as a breakfast dish. Chong Pang Nasi Lemak serves up plate after plate of nasi lemak till the sun rises. Well, almost, anyway.

This store has been around for half a century, relentlessly dishing up plate after plate of Chinese-style nasi lemak with impressively lemak rice. Besides the usual nasi lemak toppings, like chicken wings, fried eggs and otah, you can also find sambal and curry. Its chilli sauce is often raved about too, so be sure to mop up every morsel of sauce and rice.

Opens till 6am daily, 447 Sembawang Road, Singapore 758404, tel: 9655 1868.

Takagi Ramen

Not feeling the usual hawker food? Get your supper at Takagi Ramen. Takagi offers ramen at an affordable price and if one bowl isn’t enough, you can also get your first refill of noodles for free! With an extensive menu, the items range from Blueberry Pancakes to Duck on Mash and Steak on Eggs. Our go-to item would be the Loaded Spuds which features soggy fries topped with gooey mozzarella and nacho cheese, beef chilli and garlic aioli.

Wan Xing Mala Hotpot

As the name suggests, Wan Xing Mala Hotpot is another place to get your mala fix. But it doesn’t stop there! The restaurant offers a wide range of North-Eastern Chinese cuisine including classic Chinese dishes like the Sichuan Mala Chicken, BBQ skewers and grilled fish. For adventurous eaters, try the Lamb Kidney, Lamb Testicles and Pork or Beef Aorta.

Opens daily till 4am, 1006 Upper Serangoon Rd, Singapore 534744.

East

Hae! Prawn Claypot

Easties rejoice! Hae Claypot doesn’t have one but two outlets in the East. Located at Paya Lebar and Bedok, this store allows you to have your regular steamboat in rich and flavourful prawn soup in a clay pot that is heated over charcoal. With a choice of two soup bases – prawn soup and pork collagen soup, customers get to choose how rich they want the prawn flavour and adjust it according to their preferences. While we did think that the portions for the other ingredients were small, the extensive array of free-flow sauces (at no additional costs!) make up for it.

Opens daily till 3am, 29 Eunos Avenue 6, 409619. Opens daily till 10pm, 3014 Bedok Industrial Park E, Singapore 489980

Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee

For a quick and affordable supper meal, head down to Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee for a comforting bowl of bak chor mee. Since its establishment in 1985, Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee has been a popular supper spot for BCM lovers. Reputed to dish out one of the best bak chor mee in Singapore, it is no wonder that the waiting time can go up to 30 minutes.

West

Bai Li Xiang Economic Bee Hoon

Bai Li Xiang Economic Bee Hoon (more commonly known as Ah Lian Bee Hoon by NTU students), this supper spot is especially popular with NTU students due to its proximity to the university campus. While Bai Li Xiang does serve filling portions at a relatively low price point, it's best to not expect an exceptionally amazing meal here.

Opens daily till 12am, 651 Jurong West Street 61, #01-01, Singapore 640651.

My Western Bar

Known for its affordability and large portions, My Western Bar offers Western dishes that you’ll find at an average Singaporean coffee shop. Our personal favourite is the Cowboy Fried Chicken with nacho cheese served alongside creamy cheesy pasta. While each bite does feel a little sinful, we think that this indulgence is worth it.

Opens daily till 4am, 964 Jurong West St 91, Singapore 640964.

No.5 Bukit Timah Live Bull Frog Claypot Porridge

A Singaporean supper is never complete without frog leg porridge. We’ve even got our own list of the best frog leg porridge in Singapore! But for the Westies, the No.5 Bukit Timah Live Bull Frog Claypot Porridge is where you can get your frog leg fix.

The restaurant has two cooking styles to choose from – spicy dried chilli or non-spicy ginger spring onion style. For the optimal taste, get it with the claypot porridge which is the most popular choice.
